I've been thinking of massage as well.. Lately so much that I have to try it! I really don't have much money but I'm willing to do this if it helps me. I have no idea what massage costs here in Finland but I'm about to find out.. I found this place right next to my home, they dont do traditional massage but they do something that I can't translate, but it should help with endo pain.. they also do hot stone massage, I wanna try that too! don't know anything about it but I'm interested.. It's said that I should go to that massage once a week, I don't think I can afford it but I will go visit the place on Monday to find out..

I'll have to try hot stone, too! I wanted to mention that this time of year is a good one for getting massage discounts (atleast around here). I know a few massage therapists who have sale days where massages are deeply discounted if you buy in bulk. I hinted to my husband for my xmas present.

I finally have an appointment with a physical therapist here in Omak. I asked my PT friends at the hospital and they recommended her. she is trained in adhesion removal. I can't wait. I will see her Monday! She is going to show me how to do it for myself too. She knows about Endometriosis so I'm excited to work with her.

I have done three visits to the therapist now. The first two were pretty odd and I didn't feel like anything was happening but today's was a little better. Its pretty expensive though. I'm still hoping to learn the techniques myself. She does fascia release, not adhesion removal which is different. Says that the fascia is highly understated in its ability to pull and adhere and stick to things it shouldn't. Today I could feel things releasing and it was very strange but was progress. She is okay with me doing payments too which will help. I don't know how long I can afford to do it, but hopefully it will keep me out of the Surgeons office so I can finish school.

I'm really torn as to whether or not to go back to the therapist. The last session was really a waste. We spent a lot of time talking about how it works. She gave me a book that I read called The theory of visceral manipulations by Frank Lowen. The book explains a lot of what it is but it doesn't explain how its done which is very frustrating. She has tried to explain what she is doing but her explanations are mostly "it took years to learn this". Which is less than helpful. I did notice when I had done six in a row over three weeks that I was having less bowel issues. I have had some days where I feel like lots of things are coming loose and other days where nothing happens. At each one being so expensive I can't afford for them to "NOT' all work. Am I being to cynical? Ugh. I don't know.

I get why ur cynical as its hard to figure if someone's 'helping' or 'ripping u off' research the massage shes doing enough yo question n put her on the spot thats what I tend to do lol n sometimes u can catch em.out
At first I play dumb then I question
I've never heard of that in particular. And it seems her whole 'it took years to learn' attitude is a bit too vague n its like she trying to put you off asking when its ur prerogative hun xxx its a shame you've noticed nothing more xxx

For me, I think it took about 8-10 visits to feel much better overall. If I remember my research properly, there's visceral tissue surrounding all your organs, so just based on the sheer area of it, it can take a while to properly move, reposition, massage, etc. I can understand how the cost can be frustrating, and if you had seen no improvement, I can see why you wouldn't want to go back. But, since you think there might be some improvement, it might be worth a few more sessions.
As for it taking years to learn how to do, I believe her 100%. Think about it - someone's manipulating the tissues around your organs. It's not something you can just go to a weekend course and master. And honestly, it's not something I'd want to try on myself without some serious training. I recall a time or two that my very capable PPT hit a very tender spot and I was doubled over in pain for a few days. It's not something to mess around with unless you know what you're doing!
With any sort of PPT like this, it's a marathon, not a sprint. If you can, stick it out!

Thanks Karen, I think I do need to keep going because there are days that it does feel like its working. Its hard not to get discouraged some days but I'm really trying to avoid surgery and that means being willing to fight for this. I do kind of have a bit of problem with relaxing enough to let it work. I think that's my type A personality coming through. Oh well, gotta suck it up and make some more appointments and keep at it.

had a good session on Monday. Wasn't doing anything much for my belly. The worked with my head, neck, and ankles. I think that is part of what I do find frustrating. Its kind of funny. I whine that no one sees the body as a whole connected unit, and when I finally get to work with someone who does, I find it frustrating that she isn't "working" on my tummy.
