I wasn't really sure which area to post this so I thought the general are would be the best option...
I did a search on here and decided that I would do a bit of research about buying Lidocaine over the internet (takes over a month to get an appointment with my doc) I found a few sites that sell it and I could not see any warnings about not using it internally (specifically vaginally) so I hope it will be ok. A friend has Lidocaine prescribed by her doc so I will compare ingredients. I ended up buying it from e-bay but the US site it's not on the UK site.
I will keep this updated when it has arrived & I have tested and see of it is simpler and cheaper than having to go to the docs!

Oh I totally forgot to say in my post why I was buying it, but it was to help with painful sex. Yeah it was the jelly, hope thats the right one! I cant remember the brand and my e-bay isn't letting me in at the moment but it should hopefully arrive in a few days so I can see then. I'm also going to try the olive oil daily and hope that helps as well! ;D

Let us know when you get it! It would be nice if there was an easier way to get it besides going to the doctor. That's such a hassle.

I have lidocaine but I have it in a creme called emla cream which I put on my arm an hour before a blood test to completely numb it! Lidocaine is some sort of strong local anasethic. so it must numb everything a bit when you use it (if you know what I mean)

Actually, since the vagina is a mucus membrane, it would numb the vagina a LOT faster w/ less of an amount than an arm or leg or something like that (when applied topically). --If I use the lidocaine, I just dip a Q-tip or two inside the bottle and insert the q-tips, that's all it takes fo rme. The medicine is rapidly absorbed through the mucus membranes like the mouth and vagina, etc.

I was just reading through some old posts and realised I hadn't replied to this as my internet was down.
I ended up buying 2 types of Lidocaine, 1 Gel type and 1 Creme type. The gel made me sting & burn immediatley and I had run to the bathroom to wash it off - my boyfriend couldn't stop laughing but I'm sure it was a very funny sight! The creme one is fantastic, my boyfriend puts it on/in for me and it makes sex so much more enjoyable and much less painful. I will update you all on how well it works after my lap in Dec as my doc said my ovary is glued to the side of me and he can feel it with his fingers so my boyfriend keep 'getting' it when were having sex - not very enjoyable!!

^Awesome. Out of curiosity, were the 2 types you used by prescription? I'm usually extremely sensitive to anything chemical, and I haven't had any reaction to my prescription Lidocaine jelly, surprisingly. My pharmaceutical brand is Teva.

What about your boyfriends/husbands. Are they okay with this? Does it affect them at all? I'm really eager to try but my boyfriend is a little hesitant about it.

My boyfriend finds it doesn't affect him at all, he enjoys the fact that are sex life is returning to some form of normality and he puts it on/in me so he gets to 'play' at the same time!
I also found the packaging for the gel I mentioned was called tropicaine.

Meldart: Great. I'm going to try and find it. I typed in Bianca Rosa cream but I couldn't find it. Did you say you just ordered it from ebay under lidocaine? I'll probably stay away from the gel too if it burned you. I'm pretty sensitive in that area. So I think I'll stick with the cream that you mentioned. Thanks again!A
