Hi - when I was first expected of having endo. I ran across this site when looking up diet ideas. www.soulcysters.net/fabulous-skin-food-no-more-acne-182165/ -- it really doesn't have anything to do with endo per say, but I also have acne, and I think this may have helped clear up my skin some. Everyday or almost everyday I try to do this: I get a handful of spinich (yes, raw spinich that isn't easy to eat) and kale (even worse to eat by itself but a veggie that is SOO rich in so many good things), and I mix them up in a blender together with lime juice/water/honey or something that will help it to mix up by itself. Then, I add tons of fruit. Frozen fruit is great and then I'll try to add at leas tone piece of fresh fruit like an apple or banana. Anyway, you can get creative with this. The shake will be green but it wil NOT taste it if you add enough fruits. I love drinking them! Today I added honey and cinnamon for an extra sweet taste, but the fruit itself normally does the trick. You can even add flax seed or other oils you'd rather not taste by themselves. First time drinkers should start by adding more fruits than veggies. Talk about getting all your veggies and fruits for one day in one drink. It's quick too! Just add some soap and warm water to your blender and let it blend for 10 seconds to clean (or follow your blenders instructions for cleaning). I hope to report later how much my skin has improved! Wouldn't that be great if it helped endo. too?

Ive just started just a few days ago trying to include a daily smoothie. Its meant sacrificing my organic fresh produce, i just cant affort to do both atm. But am willing to try it to see if it helps.
I havent been making them green, but im trying to vary it every day so i get a mix of nutrients. I usually just make sure there are 3 different things in it. Adding the green leafy stuff and flax seeds is a good idea, i intend to do that down the track.
let us know how you go on this, with both skin and endo. My aim is to try and get off some of the supplements im on by having a big whack of things early in the day.
I made one this morning with avacado, carrot, and tomato, saw the recipe online. Okay, this wasnt bad, but a little over the top, was hard to finish it. Wont make that again. Made a good one with pineapple, orange and bananna. And one with just orange and kiwifruit. Both those were good. Hard to go wrong with the fruit, but am very much learning with the vegetables.
I suspect the full carrot is aggravating my sinuses a bit, i can feel it a little just after i have it, so dont think i can include one every day.
How funny that you just started doing this too. Ive made them on and off, but never done it consistently. It is something that for a little while after makes me feel a bit better, so i intend to keep it up. Im trying to stick to fresh stuff, but might get some frozen berries for cost.
Just had a brief look at the site, weird, i would have thought brocolli would be considered a leafy green. Hmmm.
In theory it should help endo to follow that, since its meant to reduce hormonal peaks. Is alot like a raw food diet from what i can tell.

Dont know, i think this ones different, those others are recipes in general, and smoothie pops, so is a bit different. This ones about smoothies as a treatment option.
I read more on that site, seems some women with PCOS have used it as a treatment. No reason it couldnt be an option.
I made a tasty one today that ill do again. 2 apples, some water, half a lemon, tablespoon of tahini, and 2 florets of brocolli, 1 lettuce leaf. Was sooooo good, want another one.
Oh btw, i made 2 smoothies yesterday for something to do and it caused me some bowel pain, probs more fibre than im used to. Feel fine today but, so i might suggest easing into it for those who have bowel issues.

yes, it is true... those smoothie option links above are very different from what the green smoothie is. And yes, PLEASE be CAREFUL when drinking the green smoothies, as it is a LOT of fiber going into your body. It takes some getting used to, and those with bowel problems do ask the doc about it. I just like it because I feel all cleaned out, and it helps me not feel quite as bloated sometimes. Plus, I feel like I'm getting nutrients I need without taking only vitamin supplements. Thanks for bringing those issues up kb! I can't believe how good a smoothie that is so green in color can be! Check out how much good stuff is in kale on this site: www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=38 :-)

That's fine. I just figured people would see something about smoothies and start posting run-of-the-mill recipes.

It's fun to read that what I'm now putting in my green smoothies (Kale) has been studied and shown those who eat it have lower incidents of a variety of cancers including ovarian and breast, according to that same site.

It was a great read, the studies included were great.
I didnt know about the thyroid substance in foods, have heard of that happening with soy, didnt know other foods did it too. That kinda makes me worry since i did have low thyroid in the past (its corrected itself).
Im hoping by doing this i can get off my supplements. Prob is i need so much more vitamins and minerals than healthy people, so the only way has been supplements, but i think this could work better.
I actually am already starting to feel a bit better. I had one before going out last night, along with a coq10 tablet and i felt fine all night, despite before having all that feeling pretty wiped out. It would be marvelous if this worked to get my energy levels back. Things ive tried have helped, but nothing is truly solving it. The coq10 has been marvelous, but im still not well, so its good to keep trying new things.
Im going to try and keep this up for a month, and see what my next period is like. Not sure what this might be from, but i had no cramps at all leading up to this period, only once it started. I was however badly bloated yesterday and had sore boobs, that was unusual, havent been getting that just before for a long time, its usually from ovulation, not the sudden manner of this time. It could be a good sign. Fingers crossed.

yes, I hope this helps you at least more than other things. Today my smoothie consisted of a handful of spinich, kale, and this time i added some parsley to see if i could taste it. I added half a lime, some water, some frozen bananas, frozen mangos, frozen cranberries, 1 regular organic apple I bought yesterday to try, and a low calorie pineapple popscicle I had laying in the fridge. It turned out to be one of the best shakes I made yet, and I couldn't taste the greens at all even though the shake itself was super bright green!

Just an update... Although I haven't been drinking green smoothies everyday, I've included them in my diet several times a week (as often as I can). I've found that if I make a lot extra, I can put some in a jar for the next day, and it'll keep in the fridge. It's probably a combination of things (like the birth control I started 2 months ago), but my face and back have cleared up a lot! The acne I was experiencing has slowly gone away (not completely, but a lot!). I wish I had been able to experiment more with the green smoothies before getting on the birth control so I could see how much of it is actually due to them. I know they're good for me though, and I continue to use Kale as the main vegetable. I'm so used to the taste now that I can't even taste adding fish oil to it anymore. The more you get used to it the better!
