So my last period was like Dec 29 of '09. I just got my first one after going off Depo on Thursday night. You wouldn't know other than a few drops of blood. But the pain has been simply unbearable. This morning it was just as if I were in child labor. The pain would come in waves of contractions, I'd cry and moan and scream...my mom wanted to take me into the ER but I was too weak. I had to have a bowel movement but my stomach muscles hurt so much I couldn't use them. I was hyperventilating, had the dry heaves, sweating bulletts. I can't describe how awful it is. We're looking into finding a doctor to do a hysto. I know you all may think its drastic. But I will not do Lupron and I can't go thru childbirth every month...

I just am so depressed because its like my lap and the Depo did nothing for me. I went thru all the pain and suffering that come with those treatments, and I'm still left with just as much of my normal pain as well. *sigh*

I had most of my periods while on Mirena and they were just as awful when I was on it as when I went off it so I can't answer your poll, but please don't get discouraged. Yes, you may feel like your lap and Depo did nothing, but at least you can cross them off the list and move on to the next thing. I think we've all tried things that didn't work. Unfortunately it's a bunch of trial and error, but luckily, you have lots of women here that have collectively tried a lot and can support you until you find what works for you!

Thanks Karen...and thanks for posting all the info on the Bio-Identical progesterone forum. I think I'm going to make an appointment with my NP tomorrow. Remember those pain meds I brought back from Costa Rica? The one is illegal here, so obviously I'm not even going to go there, but the other one, Oxaforte, is made up of the medicine that (I think) Hells takes regularly. Diclo...something something. Anyhow, I picked up 10 of those when I was down there and I didn't have much hope for me because I took one and it didn't do anything, so I've just kinda left them alone. Well yesterday I got desperate and I took one and what do you know? It worked! So I'm going to go in there and beg for a script for them. I cannot take the Vicodin or Tramadol anymore. They don't work (I think my body is becoming resistant to them) and they make me extremely nauseated and my head gets all funky feeling. But the Oxaforte has no side effects, doesn't give me mad heartburn (another thing I've been dealing with....I've been drinking Pepto like its no one's business) and it takes most of the pain away! I'll be so angry if she doesn't give them to me......I think going thru childbirth yesterday morning warrants some attention. And I'm going to find out what she knows about bioidentical progesterone pills as well.

"It is estimated that between 50 and 70 percent of women endure some degree of period pain and cramping. Of those, approximately 10 per cent experience contractions so extreme that they are one-and-a-half times more powerful than labour pains."
Found that to be quite profound

So...I had my period for 7 days, then it stopped for one day, then I had it for 8 days, then it stopped for 4 days, n now I got it again yesterday. Except the times before I had tons and tons of cramping and not really much bleeding at all. Well...now its literally pouring out of me. I sit down on the toilet and it just runs and runs and runs like a faucet. And the cramps are nearly unbearable. I might have to go into the clinic for a shot of Toradol...my NP said they have it on hand right there in the clinic so I don't have to deal with our crappy ER or anything. I just can't handle this anymore tho......

Please be sure you're seen about the blood loss as well as the pain, and be as descriptive as possibe (ex how many pads/tampons you go through in an hour, etc.). Big hugs!

My friend bled for almost a year after coming off of Depo shot. Definitely, like Karen said, talk to a doctor! You might ask about oestrogen tabs. Often, bleeding like that is from low estrogen. Good luck with both the pain and the bleeding! Definitely seek help!
