I have noticed starting last night i have this awful stabbing pain over where i would guess my ovaries are, it's been one side, then the other, not both at once, accompanied by cramps. I don't know what it could be, but i can tell you it really really hurts! ibuprofen and tyelonol don't touch the pain, i go back to my doc in a week, so i'm trying to hold off till then, but ugh, i'm in pain. i had a very hard time sleeping last night, and i'm having a hard time sitting still at work today, i keep trying to sit differently so maybe i'll be comfortable for a min, but no luck. any advice?

When that happens for me, its usually ovulation. I especially get pains over my left ovary. Thats where some endo was excised when I had surgery, so I know its possible there's more there, along with the scar tissue. My mom doesn't even have endo but when she ovulates she gets ovary pain too. What time are you at in your cycle?

actually im on Lupron right now, so it's been about 5 months now since a period. I did do a pregnancy test, thinking maybe that could be a source of pain, and again negative. (i check every so often just to be sure, i don't want to hurt a poor little baby with lupron, though i probably wont have another one lol). i did try a heating pad, it helped the cramps a bit, but not that awful stabbing pain. I'm just at a loss of what to do here

Oh yea that's right. It wouldn't surprise me if the Lupron is causing the pain. And I know when I was on Depo, even tho I haven't had a period for over a year, I still had cramps all the time, and sometimes what was like ovulation pain. I never got any help from the doctors, unfortunately. Does it hurt in your back too or just the front? Because in the back too it could be kidney pain.

I had stabbing pain that was on my right side right around where my overies where and the pain shot down my right leg. I had this pain constently for three weeks and The day it started it was so intense I missed a family reunion to go to the doctor. It took three trips once each week to finally figure out what was going on. (this was all before my diagnosis of Endo). I had an ultrasound done and they found a 5cm cycst on my right overy. I then had the lap to remove it and that is when they discovered the endo, and that it wasn`t a cycst on my overy but an endometioma (which means a big ball of endo). Once I got it removed unfortunally the pain has not gone away, and now I have a pain in that area that feels like I am being stabbed by a knife. I take narcotics for the pain, and sit constintly under a heating pad. Oh I was on the lupron shot as well, and it made this pain worse (just something to keep in mind).
So I suggest you get to the doctor, and hang in there.

hi I had the same experience as Tara, sharp pain is not a good sign and needs to be addressed. I had an 8cm cyst and couldn't stand up straight when I had the pain I was completely hunched over luckily mine burst didn't need surgery at the time but when I did have my lap they found 2 more cysts that were removed. It really does feel like your being stabbed, I tried to mimick the pain so my boyfriend understood by pinching the back of his arm lol not too hard tho. good luck!
