I agree with Hannah. I decided to deal with the pain instead of feeling like I need to involuntarily commit myself to a psych ward. It's like you feel this horrible feeling of bitchiness coming over your whole body..and no matter what you do..you can not stop it. You are not the same person, people judge you, you feel paranoid that people will start to have nothing to do with you. It Is Horrible!!!
I will say I tried NuvaRing for 6 months before starting my protocol. I did love it for the first 3 months. It is a lower dose of hormones because the hormones are applied locally to your vagina. However, after about 3-4 months, the endo caught on and again the old symptoms came back with vengence! I was literally out of control. Since you see your doctor soon, I would definitiely try it and maybe it will work for you!!
I am so sorry you are going through this. Please don't give-up. It's not you..It's the pill! Maybe go for a massage this weekend, do things to help keep your spirits up. You're so close to answers. Hang-in there and I'm happy you posted today :-)

Gem, I'm so sorry. The thing with these BCP is that they are all different and every woman's body reacts differently to them. The one that had me literally busting into tears in my cubicle, for no reason at all I was just so depressed, actually has made a friend of mine LESS moody/depressed around her cycle. There is just no telling.
I did have fewer of all symptoms on the nuvaring. It still sucked, it just sucked less.
hope you feel better.

Same with me. I was least crazy on nuvaring and I'm sure it kept my symptoms at bay for a while, but eventually it started not working and fast. Whatever you do, talk it over with your doc at least, see if there is a better option!

Don't apologize Gem!!! That's what we're here for! Please post if you ever need to talk about something!
The BC that gave me the lease amount of side effects was the nuva ring too. I LOVED the nuva ring. I still gained weight, I was still moody, but was the lesser of the evils.
My doctor explained it to me well why the nuva ring is such a good option. Taking a pill every day has to basically put your body through hell. Right when you take the pill, it gets digested and causes a huge spike in your hormones. Then throughout they day it slowly tapers off and the levels go back down. You are doing this spike/taper off every single day to your body! No wonder why it makes us crazy. With the nuva ring, it's a slow and constant release so your body doesn't have to go through that daily fluctuation hell. I guess another good option would be that patch thing. Do people still use that thing?
Hang in there Gem. The general rule is that it takes your body about 3 months to finally settle into it's new routine of BC's. You can try a new one too if this one doesn't work. The pills REALLY wrecked me so I understand your struggle. It's really hard. And please don't hold back from posting!!

Babe, I feel for you, I really do. I'm like that WITHOUT the pill! I was on Cilest when I was younger - it was my first pill and as far as I remember I had no issues. Thinking back, Cerazette had me all over the place. Is that the one for women with acne?
It's a tough call, it really is. I know personally I take physical pain over emotional instability any day. I can't deal with it. But my pain isn't as extreme as yours. I tell you what worked for me, for both symptoms and mood was Provera. I had some weight gain, but other than that I felt pretty good. Gimme a shot if you want anymore info.

Thank you for all your messages! It sucks so much that the options seem to be feeling like sh*t or, feeling like sh*t!!!
Thank you for all your advice and thank you Karen for that link, that's brilliant!!!
I'm going to have to really do some research and see if there are better pills for me as I can't continue feeling like this.
Helen, I was talking to a friend yesterday who has had various things wrong (including a brain tumour!!), and saying I can't cope with these feelings and that I did in some weird way much prefer the pain as I had a lot more control over that, even if I can't stop it, which she was saying is how she feels as well. I think this is the way I'm leaning at the moment, although I'm not going to stop just yet, as I have to give this a proper chance.
My pain was so bad then and my periods awful, but I think if I do come off the pill, I would have to keep to the endo diet strictly as that helps with pain and just force myself into work. At least I felt happy even when in so much pain!
Also, Cerazette was absolutely horrendous for me. I was beyond angry and as it's a continuous pill I felt the need to have a bleed all the time which was very uncomfortable!
Thank you all again, and J, I will post!!

Hey guys I thought I'd update here for my 1000th post Hannah, I am actually feeling MUCH better now. I seem to have evened out a lot. It got so bad that I accused my boyf of 'looking at that girl for too long'. It seems ridiculous now as I'm not like that and really have no problem with him having a perv (it's a bit of a joke between us!), but the rage I felt was awful at the time. Thankfully, I'm back to my old self. I think if I had carried on feeling like that I would have stopped as the pain was much easier to deal with! So, I'm keeping an eye on myself and my grumpiness, but fingers crossed it won't get bad again. I'm paying special attention to my diet and supplements so when I do come off it, hopefully I'll have a better handle on the pain.

Excellent! Hope you're noticing an improvement in terms of pain/period-free-ness now that you've got the emotional/psychological side under wraps. And congrats on the thousandth post xx

Ha ha!! I'm almost an old timer now The pain is better than it was without the pill so that is a bonus. It's sort of exactly the same as without the pill, except three steps up if that makes sense? So, I still bleed every day, but it's less; I cramp, but not as much and not as severely; I have back pain, but I don't need to be attached to a hot water bottle all the time.
