I've been having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year so I've been making an effort this weekend. Gift shopping, finished putting up my tree, and listening to a holiday music mix on my ipod. Here are some of my favorites:
- All I want for Christmas is you (Mariah Carey - I know, I know... Usually I can't stand her!) - Baby Please Come Home (U2 - my sister LOVES U2 so I always heard this growing up) - A few oldies redone by Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jr.
What are your favs that always remind you of good memories?

I always like the old Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton duets - my dad always used to play that when we were opening gifts on christmas eve ( german tradition to open on the 24th in the evening ). Also some old Elvis Christmas stuff too..and Patsy Kline ( spelled wrong I think )
I also love the Mariah Carey christmas CD from years ago All that old stuff reminds me of home.

I would have happily joined this discussion but Radio 1 have been playing 1 christmas song per hour and then I hear them in all of the shops... I'm done in! I'm always happy when I hear All I Want For Christmas. Oh and that one by John Lennon and Yoko throws in a line or 2? Reminds me of what a lovely person he was and really what Christmas is about...

I'm usually a x-mas nut, but find myself not being in the spirit this year. We had a pretty bad year all around, so I guess I'm not feeling it. I'm trying really hard though! Have Slacker Radio on right now rocking some x-mas tunes... My favs?? Trans-siberian orchestra, especially Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24; Sinatra's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"; and any Away in the Manger song does me in anytime. Reminds me of being a kid Just doesn't feel like x-mas to me this year. Bah humbug

Slade. And then Slade, oh and a bit of Slade. Band Aid (original), and the John Lennon one Merry Xmas (War is over) but it's associated with a sad memory too so it makes me a bit teary' I've had my xmas CD in the car for the last week, so I'm getting a bit numb to it. Paul and Linda McCartney with Simple Having a Wonderful Xmas Time is a good'un too. Oh, and Slade...I like that one.

Oh and yeah, that's the ONLY Mariah Carey song I genuinely like. I even bought the CD single when it came out. There was another one about the same time...what was it...I have to go find that CD now...brb...the song I'm thinking of is Hold Me, Kiss Me, Thrill Me by Gloria Estefan.

Helen you made me lol there. I was full of Christmas cheer last week but I've sorta fallen off the wagon. Thankfully the little sis is super excited this year which makes me so happy, she's finally getting into it. My mum banned it in our house when she was very young so she's never been into it til this year ;D That War is Over is the one I love! I was a choir geek so my favourite one to sing was O Holy Night. Hallelujah was ok but repetitive.

This year christmas carols have been making me cry, how sad is that (probably my emotions from the Lupron shot). But my favorite christmas carol is As long as there`s Christmas from Beauty and the beast christmas movie. Silly I know, of course there are some classic ones I really like, to many to list, but I am not listening to any this year, don`t know why.

O Holy Night Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Christ is Born in Bethlehem Hark the Herald Angels Sing I'll be Home for Christmas In Excelsis Gloria <<<--- (one of my all time faves) Winter Wonderland Let it Snow O Come, All Ye Faithful Silver Bells
I will add that I haven't listened to any in a few years, because they start shoving a lot of the really annoying stuff down your throat in October, and it takes over the airwaves, completely, on certain radio stations, for 4-6 weeks. But the classics... you know, stuff that sounds amazing with a full choir... are always winners.
