I had been recommended by my acupuncturist a few years ago to get a colonic done. I had gone seven times and although uncomforatble it did hellp. It was $75 Canadian per visit. I stopped going because of the cost but now thinking back it did help. It basically cleans out your bowel so you don't have bowel or abdominal pain. 2 litres of water gets put up your backside and flushes everything out. Gravity is basically how it works. Sounds gross but it really clears out everything. The #1 tip I learned though is when you are in the bathroom and you are having a movement, you should always have your feet up on a stool. Apparently having your legs raised while having a bowel movement helps to get everything moving without pushing or constipation. You can get a cheap little plastic still at dollar stores or IKEA. I'm not saying you put your legs over your head! Just slightly raised, less than a foot off the ground. It makes a huge difference. The place I got my colonic in Toronto is called The Yellow Brick Road. I know, the name is ridiculous but it works. Just thought I would pass that along. This is their website: www.yellowbrickroad-healthyliving.com/

I had one a few years ago, felt pretty amazing after it, really clean and 'flat'. Not cheap, never been back but eventually I will.

I've always fancied one, but the cost would hold me back. Funnily, I often raise my legs when I'm on the toilet as it seems to help - now I know it does!!

I paid about £60 - doable, just not on a regular basis.

I paid $75 Canadian per visit. Its one of those things that you are embarrased to say you like. I am the kind of person that likes to see people surgical scars because I find it interesting. This is the same. This may sound gross but you get to see the things that leave your body as well as there is a mirror (in my case at lease) above the bed so you can see what the staff are doing but also the toxins that leave your body. Depending on what toxins leave your body, you can tell what it is by the colour. I forget what each colour meant but the staff are able to tell you that orange liquid means this and black means that. You could also see debris that had been in your body for awhile, sometimes years! It hurts a little just before the debris shakes loose but once you see it through the tube you feel a lot better. It's gross but interesting in a scientific kind of way. The lady that was performing mine said that you can do it to yourself at home with only a few things from the drugstore. I would never attempt to do this myself. Ever. Never! I am glad to pay someone if I have the money otherwise no thank you.

I'm with you, I'm interested in all that weird stuff. When I use a pore strip on my nose I have to sit there and stare at it after taking it off. It's funny what you mention about the stool--I always end up with my feet stretched as far up as they go (on tip toes) while on the toilet. Sometimes I cross my legs, and then cross the other way, and that seems to help too.

I just started and it helps manage my constipated and diarhea. I had 3 to start but now do 1 per month because nj prices is$100 per visit. I also gave up gluten which I realize made my gi issues worse. Huge help.

I'm so glad to hear it has helped. Why does everything always cost too much?!?! Especially when its things that help us. Not fair!
