Hello Can anybody help me with this one? I'm new to your website and I will post an intro soon but really wanted to ask this question. I was diagnosed 12 months ago with severe endo and have had a laporoscopy and ventro suspension (pulling the womb back up and holding it in place!). Since then I have lost weight and now weigh 6 stone 10 pounds (yes I am English and live in England so we talk in stones and pounds!!). Can anyone advise why this might be as I eat loads. I am only 5 ft tall and very petite but did weigh 7 stone 5 pounds before. I am following a no dairy, no wheat diet just recently but lost the weight before this. What can I eat to get fat without eating dairy??? Any advice would be much appreciated. I would love to chat on the chat room but you're all just getting up when I'm going to bed I think! Many thanks! Leane

Whoa, I've hear of kilograms, but not stones. Do you know how to translate that into just pounds?
Not that it really matters--I'll take your word for it that you're too skinny. What I am wondering is what you are replacing the dairy and wheat with. Perhaps you just aren't getting enough nutrients in what you eat! Certainly you don't want to knock yourself trying to eat stuff that's high in fat, but there are healthier ways to gain weight. I know people who go on diets tend to avoid carbohydrates, but high glycemic carbohydrates are bad for endometriosis. I'm not sure what else is good for helping you to gain weight. The important thing is to make sure you are getting a balance of everything you need. That can be difficult to do if you are cutting things out without adding things in.

Hello My weight is 94 lbs - not a lot! I know what you mean about dairy but I lost the weight before I cut it all out. It's a problem! Can't seem to get fat or pregnant at this rate! Leane

I also have been losing weight at a steady pace for the past year. I guess in the last year I have lost 20 pounds without trying. The endo has just made my stomach crazy, so I hate even eatting anymore. It really gets depressing. I hope you get some good advice that helps you. I totally understand.

Have you had your thyroid checked for overactivity?

Hi Leane, I'm from the UK also and have had the same problem with weight loss, mainly since i started a hormone treatment in May. I have been taking Instant Mass, it's like protein shake but there are generally more calories. I seem to be gaining weight slowly but heathily as you only make use of its ingredients when you exercise or something like that. I had to change my eating habits because i lost my appetite which made the weight loss worse. I force in three meals and snack when i can on things i really like as it keeps my appetite going. Maybe don't think about the particulars like calories, just concentrate on having what you like whenever you want, and what is good for your body, try not to weigh yourself as a measurement of this, and just think about feeling and looking healthy as possible again!

Hello again No I haven't had my thyroid checked I am waiting for results from a gluten intolerance test but its been three weeks so far and still no results! I have a really good appetite but it seems my body doesn't absorb anything which also then prevents pregnancy. Is the instant mass stuff dairy free? I'm finding hard to put on weight on the dairy, gluton and wheat free diet I am on! Although I only have to avoid cow's milk so I'm trying to find a supplier of sheep milk and sheep cheese! Don't like goats cheese it tastes funny! Leane

A friend of mine did point out to me that regular exercise gets your metabolism going so maybe that could help kick start your absorption? I'm not sure about the ingredients being suitable but this link is to the product I buy: www.affordablesupplements.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=2_20&products_id=409I can't have a full serving in one go though (upsets my tummy) so I have half in the morning half in the evening with water as any milk will make the mixture very thick! If you ask at a health food shop (esp Holland and Barretts who are very helpful) or your pharmacy they can advise you best, H&B are the best I think

I'm having the same problem. I'm 5'9" and have lost almost 20 pounds in the last year. I was already thin, and now I'm almost skeletal. I've tried everything I can think of to put on weight, but having a full belly increases my endo pain. The endo diet sounds like it helps with the pain, but I'm terrified I'd lose even more weight if I cut out meat and carbs from wheat.
Does anyone have advice?

You can do the diet without doing everything on it and still gain benefit. There are loads of gluten free products that are great replacements. Can also just try to stick to organic meat and limit intake if youd prefer not to give it up.
The diet shouldnt be set in stone anyway, gotta do what works for you, and since all our bodies are different, it makes sense that some could have some foods and not others. Trial and error and a diary could help determine whats ok.
If your having that much trouble putting on weight, endo diet or not that would still be a problem. Could try and include alot of nuts and nut butters, and dried fruit, might help put the weight back on.

I am having the same problem since surgery. I too am 5'9, and thin to begin with but in the past 8 weeks i have lost 10 kilos (22pounds) and now weigh 50 kilos (110pounds) and am now underwieight. I am now seeing a dietitian so maybe you would benefit from consulting one too as they will be able to prepare meal plans around your food choices and also monitor your weight as well as ruling out other reasons for the weight loss.
My dietitian has told me to eat a low fibre diet (i had bowel surgery) lots of carb intake through breads, pastas etc. Sustagen or a protein drink is very good for it as well. This is all advice you will get from seeing a nutritionist so I highly reccomend going to a gp who can do blood tests and then working with a dietitian as i have found this very useful.
I think it is important you notify your GP though to rule out any inderlying medical causes which can be done via the blood tests to begin with.
