So I just had an idea. My NP is pretty willing to let me try just about anything...at least she has been lately. So I'd like to hear what each of you thinks is the best pain drug. I'm about ready to try anything, so I need some new ideas. It doesn't even necessarily have to be a pain drug, but what is the best thing that controls your pain?

Hmm, for me, best things that have helped my pain have been diet changes and bio-identical progesterone. Not your typical pain-management 'drugs', but super helpful for me!
And when those don't work as well, I'm more of an ibuprofin kind of girl these days, though I have a few vicodin and percocet squirreled away for those absolutely awful days...

bio identical in pill form or as a cream? I'm going to try the cream (since my grandma gave me a huge stock of it) as I'm coming off this Depo shot to hopefully lessen the withdrawal effects. And I've noticed that diet has helped my cramps...but I still have this overall pain.

Pill. It's a stronger dose than the creams.

I'm an ibuprofen type girl too. Nothing too strong. Although, after my surgery they gave me perocet and I'm glad I only had 20 of them because I liked them. LOL Don't wanna get addicted!

I take Hydromorphone 6mg three times a day, and I have dilaudid 2mg for break threw pain, also on the lupron shot, and I use my heating pad daily for pain. And how do those make you feel? Are you still able to function on them or do they make you really blah and out of it? The Hydromorphone and Dilaudid specifically. My doctor would like me to take Lupron....but I'm just to scared to do it. My body usually comes up with all the side effects it can think of, so I'm worried I would be just plain miserable on Lupron.

Heating pad, diet change, meditation if that does not work I am limited to the drugs I can take I will take Typm or Ibprofen the strongest med I have is demerol and I take that usually only as a last resort and almost only if I am in a hospital setting and being monitored by medical stafff. I have taken it at home not often tho.

hi shannon - I don`t have any side effects anymore from either the hydromorphone or the dilaudid. but When I first started taking the Dilaudid I use to make sure I took it with food and even then it would still make me feel nausiated. Now I can take the dilaudid just fine. though I did find out the other day I can`t take them at exactly the same time, that made me a lite headed. The only time the dilauded makes me feel like I am out of it is when I am having a really bad pain day, and I have taken alot of them, then the next day I feel very sluggish and can`t focus on anything. I too have usually every side effect from a medication that I take, I am now two months into my lupron shot (so I have had two shots) and I have mood swings, one week after the shot to the day cry all that day. I am losing hair. I have headaches. Less appitite. more pain than before I took the shot. so I can`t say it is going very well. I think the drug either works well or it doesn`t for people, and there doesn`t seem to be an imbetween.

I liked Lupron. The hot flashes and night sweats were bad, but for me its been the best thing yet. I take ibuprofen but I have some muscle relaxants for those awful days.

I wish I could get something else...my vicodins are now causing me to vomit when I take them so I am basically at a loss when I'm in pain. Oh and I'm so mad, I ate some rice cakes yesterday, because, you know, they're made of RICE. Well, then I noticed in small print they are MULTIGRAIN cakes and the number one ingredient? WHEAT. So I spent all last night miserable and its trailing into today....
