Ah right. Doc said an hour before bed to let the drowsiness work over me in my sleep. What time do you suggest? Very cautious of it cos I went suicidal on citalopram and prozac. I'm terrified actually.

Well, I'd been about to suggest 8 pm but your bedtime is a bit later than mine! I'd take it at least 2 hrs before you go to bed. I think I used to take the amy at around 7 - 8 pm and go to bed around 10. Helped me nod off and lessened the drowsiness in the morning. And you know right, if you have any of those feelings again to go straight to the doc, right?

If you find the weepies get worse, Cherry, call the doc! That drug made me sob so hard I was about to throw up, and I had nothing but the pain to sob about and I never ever cried that hard in my life. Again, not to scare you, but I just want you to be careful!
Hope you get things sorted soon. It's no fun to play the let's-see-what-works-and-what-doesn't game...

I've dropped the nortriptyline as it left me really bloody unstable and dare I say, depressed? Cried every day for different things, taken offence at just about everything. I was also sleeping in dreadful amounts then feeling bad about and crying in frustration. Serious wtf moment. Feel like it's knocked me back a few steps in my emotional progress since I recovered from the depression last year.
The gab is working really well for me, I was late on a dose earlier and am feeling the pain now as I've only just taken it. I get nasty breakthrough on my lower left rarely and on my right more often but even the back pain has calmed. I feel renewed with such a lessening of pain, just waiting for the wooziness and sleepiness to really wear off so I can make use of this new lease of life. So for now, 4x300mg gabapentin is my friend.

well the fogginess this morning was non-existent, happy happy cherry! Still got post GnRHa fog but that's just part of me now really. No emotional outbursts so far either. Yaaaay. This is good, I was getting POed just making my breakfast! Maybe the nor would have been good but I literally couldn't have risked getting any worse for the possibility of pain relief, I was a weeping mess yesterday.

I'm so glad it is working for you. Glad you pulled yourself off the other stuff. We know when we can't handle it. I thought of asking for a increase with my neurotin since it does work and I have not had a reaction to it yet. Curious how sleepy you get from it Cherry? I am only on the 300 mg at night and I do not sleep at all. Wonder if the doc would consider bumping that up and see if it helps rather than this medicine game he is trying now. Is your reactions usually the first week? You know right away when a med is not right for you?

Hey Keri sorry for my late reply. Yeah I usually feel it from the start if a med isn't right and then the side effects keep getting worse til I have to come off it. I'm now on 1500mg a day and take it every 4 hours, pain doc has authorised up to 1800mg. I'm worried that I'm getting breathrough pain and hope it's not losing efficacy. It was my wonder drug. I oversleep and feel pretty sleepy on it at the moment as I have just upped the dose, it makes me sleepy in work but not like true tiredness if that makes any sense, I have micro snoozes to alleviate, hope to god the managers don't catch me. I'm aware of things going on so it's not stopping me from taking calls etc.

How did you get on Keri? This past few days was the acid test, as it was my first 'period' on gabapentin. I have issues passing BMs and with pain on when my sister has her period, which the doctors don't seem to believe. Well today I was laid low by the pain. I don't even need to ask my sister when her period is due as I just tend to go very pale and find the simple act of vacating my bowel is a huge task. I am on the maximum dose of gabapentin now. 4 through the day and 2 at 11pm. Mostly I'm pain free which is a blessing but instead I get sudden extreme pains which seem to 'break through' the pain relief quite suddenly and they make me curl up or cry out. I'm glad I took holidays from work so that I can get used to this new way of things. See, the gabapentin has been the most effective overall with manageable side effects that disappear over time and I'm hoping this day is a one off. Waste of a beautiful day but it's not a day off work sick at least.

Thanks Cherry so glad it is working for you. I think it is saving me...it was increased to 600mg we have some new results tho and I may go up one more dose but for now 600 is helping. Not sure pain free will ever be in my world but I am dealing with it and that is all I want is to be able to deal with it. I know I have the option to increase more I want my body to adjust to this level first.

I am the same Keri, up til now the new lease of life I've had has been really great. To get by is the best we can sometimes expect and getting by with less force on our part is great. The fact that I'm not more drugged during the day is great, my extra dose is tagged onto the end, so I get really sleepy and kinda pass out asleep but now the drunken feeling has worn off, I think I must be sleeping better as I'm waking for my morning dose and feeling wide awake. Great stuff! So if you do increase the dose that may be a good idea for you too? I'm pleased at the lack of side effects on my part
