I'm so proud of him today!!!!
First, he got stung by a bee for the first time this morning at school. It flew up his shirt and stung him, he didn't even cry! He said he didn't cry because he's brave. He sure is!
Second, He was just diagnosed with acid reflux and the only meds they can give them are capsules. They suggested I open them and pour it into applesauce. Thats a whole lot of work. I wondered if MAYBE he could swallow one, so we practiced with tic tacs. He got every single one (6) first try. So we tried with his pill, NO PROBLEM!!!! He was so proud and happy and it wasn't a tramatic thing at all, so he's really positive about it. He's 5 so I think it's a big thing for his age!

Good for him about the bee sting! Those things hurt!
Just for future reference, mint is a stomach irritant and can make acid reflux worse! Having him swallow 6 tic tacs might have made his condition worse.
Now that you know what he has, a good thing to do is look up what can make it worse for him and avoid it. #1: TIC TACS!

We used fruit ones (not mint) and it was suggested by his dr has one of the easiest ways to simulate a pill without using a pill. So i the Dr suggested it, I'm ok with doing it once to teach him a needed skill.
My fiance and I both have Acid Reflux (him worse than me), so we're pretty on top of which foods are good and bad because we've been avoiding them most of our lives too.
But thanks for the advice.

OH GOOD. I forget that tic tacs come in flavors. I'm so used to the good ol' fashioned mint ones.

He actually had acid reflux when he was a baby. He used to projective vomit HORRIBLY!!
Acid reflx effects people no matter what age or how healthy they are. So there is really no way to tell HOW he got it. There is a chance his problems never really went away, and are just really acting up again. I'm hoping that we can medicate him for a month or 2 while doing a diet change, to get it under control and then go off the medication and keep up the diet change. As long as I'm not eating bad foods or under a lot of stress, I really have very minimal issues with mine. If I eat bad, I need to take meds for a week or two so it gets back under control. My fiance however has it worse and needs to be on meds everyday.
My ex however feels it's easier to just medicate him everyday forever so he doesn't have to change what he feeds him (pizza, mcdonalds, spaghettios, soda). This is a whole other type of rant I'll go on, so I'll just leave it at what it is. But hopefully we will get a diet change acrossed the board.

I may have some big balls, but I'm definatly not brave! He's really been through a lot of medican stuff in his short 5 years. and he's always done amazing! The only time he EVER cried while getting shots of blood taken is when he got his MMR shot as a baby, and then his MMR shot he got when he was older (he's got immune issues so he needed extra). I'm so lucky that he's such a trooper with medical stuff. The dr's always expect he's going to cry and fight them on stuff but he just sits there like a pro.
