I've smoked pot in the past, like hellsbells said, in moderation the side effects are minimal. It tends to relax muscles and make you go to the toilet - great when you're constipated!!!

I was just browsing the Beeb this lovely bank holiday Monday and randomly came accross this new article: www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-11110798Obviously not endo specific but interesting...

hmm... the munchies as a side affect? That might be bad for those trying to stick to the endo diet, or any diet. I would still try it though! (if I didn't have kids) Do you suppose since its inhaled that it would have bad consequences on the lungs like smoking??

An old boyfriend of mine had a serious infection in his heart. Took his docs months to figure it out, though, so until then, he smoked up every day to deal with all the health issues he was having. He swore by it...

My doc said if I lived in California I would be on it as I cant tolerate much of anything else. I can take demerol but thats drug is scary I could have a bowel obstruction with that the exact thing I am trying not to have! I am all for marijuana being legal for medical use. I went to Kent State so it was all over and I tried it. I was never a good stoner tho I laughed all the time and could not get into THE WALL and all the other stuff that would get brought up at our hippie parties. LOL I am sure I annoyed everyone there! I saw a documentary on 20/20 about using it on children with autism I will post a link for everyone. Its worth a try I mean it cant be worse then some of the poison the FDA approves!

Interesting thread. I was taking NSAIDS in the beginning when I was diagnosed with this disease from hell. But my ob/gyn said I was taking too much and would burn a hole in my stomach. She insisted I take Percocet/ tylenol instead. Also I am off the pill and trying to conceive and she said NSAIDS can negatively effect ovulation. My 'making babies' fertility book also says the same thing.
Percocet has awful side effects and I'm trying desperately now not to use it but I can't go to sleep some nights due to the pain without using Perc or a heating pad. Heating pads would be fine but apparently heating pads/ electric blankets are also bad if you are trying to conceive. Sigh. There is nothing that exists that doesn't have side effects or affects trying to get pregnant! Well other than Tylenol but that only works for mild pain....

Don't know if anyone will see this, since this thread ended in August! My daughter had horrible pain for three years, taking tons of narcotics, most of which didn't help much. She had surgery with Dr. Cook in July, and was so much better...but now the pain is coming back. She admitted she has tried marijuana, and it takes the pain away completely. She's said she doesn't get giggly or goofy, just mellow and pain-free. I've been reading up. Apparently, it doesn't take a lot of marijuana to effect the pain (three puffs a day, one site said.) She currently has an ulcer that is being treated, and I am hoping that her "endo" pain is actually radiating pain from that (both on her left side.) If the ulcer goes, and she does have endo pain, medical marijuana, it will be. I won't subject her to narcotics again; she lost three years of her life. She simply couldn't function on them. I fully believe in medical marijuana for pain management and cessation of nausea for cancer patients. Frankly, when she was going to pain management, my next request was going to be medical marijuana.

I'm sorry to hear that her pain is coming back! Ulcers can be quite painful too so I hope that it's really the ulcer and that her pain will be gone when the ulcer heals.

Pain meds can cause ulcers. The more often they are taken the better chance. They can also mess with your digestive system. I hope that she gets better soon.

We are pretty sure her ulcer is from the pain meds. She is still on meds for migraine, but they aren't known to cause ulcers. We will simply not do prescription narcotics again. We can get a medical marijuana card here, so we will do that when the time comes.
Yeah, Jenaya, she just told me. The pain is in a different place than before (left side now), and it is directly below where she has the ulcer pain. So, see, maybe radiating pain, right?! I hope.
