Ok so I have cut out carbs and sugar for the next two weeks. I thought NOWAY could I do it infact I have put off doing it for so long bc I did not have confidence in myself to be able to do it and did not want to disappoint myself. Well so far its not that bad. I have been eating alot of protein and I have a ton of energy. I am also not craving the sweets either. I am trying to do different things that will reduce my pain and get my bowels moving. I tried this because so many times I would eat starches and I blew up and had the fear of a bowel obstruction too many times. I knew if its gonna happen it will but I am thinking the healthiest foods are away for me to try to prevent it. I have always ate good foods and try to stay organic as much as I can but I def have a problem staying away from the breads, pies and cookies and it really was making me miserable! 3 days in and I think I can do it. After my 14 days I will be adding clean carbs in a little at a time so this is more of a cleanse then a diet but it can be used as a way of living all the time its not as hard as I thought!

Woooo hooooooooooooooo! Your body might go through sugar withdrawal, but stick with it and I'm willing to bet you'll feel a huge difference!

Karen I know you did a similar program. Since my hysterectomy I think my endo on my bowels has gotten alot worse. Almost anything I eat now makes me blow up. Now I know the swelly belly takes a year or more to go down but even when I eat good things it still happens. How was your belly after your program? I know I have to keep up with this to notice a difference I worry about a bowel obstruction and wonder if another surgery to remove the bowel endo could be in my future. I do not want to do it but I am still shocked at how the disease never stops! If I can control it with my diet I will not need surgery but if not I will be considering another one.....

Have lost almost 20 pounds, also have so much less bloating it's awesome. feel like if I cut out sugar, will be even better! am still eating all the other carbs, rice, corn, potatos, just no wheat! I am really proud of you for trying this. It aint easy! pretty

I still get bloated when my hormones fluctuate - my waist last time got 5" bigger with my period!! But, the day to day stuff is getting better. Really, for me, it seems like a hormonal thing in addition to food. It's like I can eat something when I'm mid-cycle and nothing happens, but if I eat the same thing when I'm about to have my period, I'm the stay-puff-marshmallow man!
Have you ever seen an endocrinologist to see if something else is going on? Or I know that some women have severe digestive issues that throw off the rest of the body because the body isn't getting the nutrients it needs?

I am on a no-sugar diet as well! I also cut out wheat (and now experimenting with gluten), soy, any kind of meat, chocolates, milk. But I do take live yoghurt.. I take vegetables and fruits, rice mostly.. I no longer get sugar cravings!! I fear if I start eating sugar I'll be addicted to it again! I can tell my belly has eased up after I stopped gluten in my diet.. Its tough and its fantastic we are able to do it! Way to go!! hope things get better with the new diet!

I'm fairly convinced that sugar and wheat are my two main enemies, the gurgling wind I get in my mid-belly is really annoying! It's almost like the sugar is fermenting everything that's in there!

Karen thats all I need is another doctor LOL! If this does not work tho I may have to check into it. I am on day 5 and can feel a difference. My mind does not crave anything my body however is. I feel alot more energy but a little on the shakky side. I have been told that this stage is called ketosis and if I can fight thru this I can do the entire 14 days. I guess this stage is the worse and lasts a few days. Im a also a bit on the bitchy side too LOL! Im at work and usually nothing bugs me but today OMG I am really pissy with patrons.....I keep saying I can do this and thanks for all the support girls!

Ketosis is not necessarily a good thing - I think it can cause probs with either liver or kidneys so please be careful.

I have made it:) Didnt cheat or anything! I feel really good and down a size. Didnt do it for the weight tho. I still have the bloated belly tho but my doc says with a hysterectomy it could take a year and with endo could be a life time of bloated belly:( But I am feeling better alot more energy and sugar free stuff really does taste good gals! Try it! I am going to continue this way of life or atleast try. As for my bowels I am setting up a appointmet with my GI to see what I can do if anything....

WOOOOO HOOOO! Have you ever ur stool tested? Could be some sort of bacteria throwing things off, even yeast overgrowth can cause tons of tummy problems. Hope you can get to the bottom of things, but glad you're seeing such a difference already!

Ketosis is not necessarily a good thing - I think it can cause probs with either liver or kidneys so please be careful. This is the reason there is controversy on these zero carb diets. It makes your body ketonic, meaning the one of the by product of tissue breakdown is keytones which makes your blood acidic. And it can mess up your liver and kidneys. An absolute ZERO carb diet can be dangerous. I do believe however, that cutting carbs to a minium is a good idea. The insulin resistance diet preaches this point to death. If you eat a carbohydrate, you have to couple it with a protein. And the serving size for a carbohydrate shouldn't exceed 40g per meal (visually, it equates to about a 1/3 cup). Sugar is always a bad idea. Things that are carbohydrates are usually anything that's a processed food like pasta, bread, chips, etc. But also fruits are carbs too! Eating fruit is good because of the nutrients and vitamins it provides but even fruit can be bad in excess because of all the carbs and sugars. Eating fruit with a fat free/low fat yogurt or cottage cheese helps balance the carb with protein. I have recently cut out sugars, and I cut my carbs to a minimum. I have noticed how badly my body reacts to sugars now that I don't have it regularly. I'll bloat out so much that I can't fit into my clothes and I'll feel terrible for a couple days. I hate how it feels.
