Wow, something went right!
Have recently scheduled a laparotomy to rearrange my insides and clean out endo. Will be on August 21. The nice and wonderful thing that's happened is this: Last week my boss told me I may have to go on FMLA if I qualified, so as not to lose my benefits and health care from missing too much work. Today the CEO of our company called me into her office and told me that although I did not qualify for FMLA, that the place I work would be picking up my deductible for the month of August and September and that I would not lose my benefits (or my job). While it will still be extremely difficult financially, to be out of work after surgery, I will have a job to come back to and my health care will not be affected.
This is possibly the best and most unexpected lucky thing that's ever happened to me, and I am putting it out there to y'all to spread the awareness that GOOD THINGS HAPPEN. I know we all tend to forget this all the time.
Thank you, universe! There is hope!

what a great job! It's nice when companies view you as a person and not just a number. Great for you!

Aw, that's so nice! Has to be a HUGE relief!
Do you mind me asking why you didn't qualify for the FMLA? I was only off for a week but applied (and was accepted) for FMLA for my lap. I had to use vacation time for time off, but had I needed more time, then short term disability would have kicked in, and HR suggested I apply for FMLA anyway just in case. Since I don't know a ton about FMLA, what made you ineligible?

As much as I may bitch at times, I'm so thankful for the NHS, and the 'sick' laws we have here. I'm glad you got some good news pretty!

lol I've got the hospital calling me all the time about the bill. I've got $3,000 from the hospital and clinic, so I'm paying $50 on each ($100 a month). The clinic leaves me alone, but the hospital calls me every couple of months telling me my payment plan ($50) has expired and I need to pay the whole balance. And I keep saying that's all I can afford right now (which is a little white lie) and it's all I can afford next month and the month after that. They keep saying they will call me back the following month, and I tell them that I will tell them the exact same thing.
lol, Not sure how it is other places in America but in WI, I they can't do a thing as long as I'm paying something each month.
