I was diagnosed about 3 years ago. I had the surgery and as much of it was taken out as possible. Ever since then my doctor has had me on birth control. I swear i have tried every type but its just not cutting it! I am horrible at taking pills so thats one downfall. I am always exhausted and most days i can't get out of bed. Right now i am on my cycle and I can barely make it through the day because my job requires me being on my feet all day. What other options do I have?? ALSO my OBGYN isnt the most experienced with Endo so i'm looking for a new one. I live in the Binghamton NY area. Does anyone know of a good one???

Yeah, BC didn't cut it with me, either. Everyone reacts to it differently, and sometimes, it's just not doing the trick. Right now the thing that I just started (with much success managing the pain so far) is bio-identical progesterone. There are lots of other options out there, though, to help with pain, and some work for some women and not others. Have you ever heard of the diet changes you can make to help cope with the pain?
If you're looking for a lot of good info to sort through, have you read "Endometriosis: The complete reference for taking charge of your health" by Mary Lou Ballweg and the Endo Association. They cover the pros and cons of just about every treatment option out there, both traditional and non.

I have never heard of bio identical progesterone. I have been doing a non-lactose diet, cut out coffee(not easy at all), and have been eating small frequent meals. I have read some Endo books. My doctor was just convinced that birth control is the only option.

I had a horrible time with birth control pills too. I had every side effect listed. I HATED them, I was crazy and miserable and felt the same chronic fatigue you described. I'm now on the nuva ring and I swear its a Godsend. I still have some side effects but they are so mild compared to what I've been through with pills. It's a fair exchange for the relief I'm getting from the endo symptoms. Have you tried it?

I was the same before the mirena/gonapeptyl treatment, the pill seemed not to be working the same. Now I'm back on it and responding well. I would love to try bio-identical hormones.

i was never given the option of the nuva ring, i will have to ask about it. I'm HORRIBLE at remembering to take pills so that would be perfect. Thanks! I was thinking about trying to bio-identical hormones as well.

Yeah, for me, nuvaring was the best of them. But, then again, I know some women couldn't stand it. Might be good to at least discuss nuvaring with your doc!
