I have to be honest - I didn't go off wheat because of pain control, I did it because it's a possible/probable allergen that causes fluid retention and I really want rid of my fluid retention without resorting to pills. They don't help in the long run. The knock on effect are my bowel movements. Ever looked at one of those charts that tells you different kinds of poops look like, and why they may look/be bad? Well, if someone (I did actually consider it yesterday morning) had taken a picture of one my poops this week, it would have been pride of place at the top of the chart saying 'This is what a perfect poop looks like'. Granted, I'm still on one sachet a day of Movicol (stool softener) but am hoping to not bother at all within a few days. I used to believe that my system was so messed up fibre made me bunged up, and it did, but only because the wheat/dairy was making my poor bowels so congested they couldn't deal with the fibre properly. Get on the bandwagon jess! You won't regret it!

Breakfast: smoothies, wheat/gluten free pancakes, oatmeal
The wheat for me has been SO helpful. I just ate my sandwich with gluten-free bread (homemade in a bread machine found on the side of the road in West Virginia--I LOVE Appalachia!) for lunch and the tummy is doing great! The bandwagon is a great place to be, Jess!

There are several gluten free cereals out there - like some versions of chex, some corn flakes, etc. Throw some berries on and use some unsweetened almond milk - YUM! There are also some flour substitute mixes that you can use to make gluten free pancakes, bread, etc. As for pasta, there's some really good quinoa/corn pasta that tastes EXACTLY the same as regular pastas. There ARE ways to do it and make it work! Good luck!!

I'm also a fan of buckwheat pancakes. Buckwheat is not the same as regular wheat and is endo friendly. There's also a lot of gluten-free pancake mix, gluten-free waffles, and the gluten-free cereal. Quinoa is packed with nutrients and far better for you than regular pasta. I am kind of thankful for celiac disease because I discovered so many other grains that are so much better for my health. I would have never tried this stuff before.

Have any of you heard that dairy is bad for wheat intolerance because of what the cows eat? I read that somewhere and I wasn't sure how to handle that one. I was skeptical/in denial. lol

hey be careful with things called 'buckwheat' and still check the ingredients. Buckwheat noodles contain regular wheat. Buckwheat pancake mix also contains real wheat. Be careful ladies! They mix wheat in there too! You have to pay a LOT more for 'just' buckwheat! The soba noodles I found that were 100% buckwheat were almost $9.00 for one little package! So lol the way you will know it is 100% buckwheat is by the price. sigh.

Jenaya I'm OBSESSED with Quinoa because you can make it taste like ANYTHING. My mom makes really great tabouleh using quinoa, feta cheese (you'd have to be a cheater to throw that in there.. but she doesn't use much, just some chunks crumbled here and there), cucumber sliced & diced into quarters, and cherry tomatoes. It's AMAZING. I also made my own little invention of red quinoa (cooked in veggie broth instead of H2O) with black beans, corn, tomato, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, chives, salt, and LOTS of pepper.. you could use tabasco too.. and it's delicious and kinda mexican-ish! alsooo might i mention I love rice noodles for the same reason? i made a caribbean style salad to go with caribbean pork the other day and it was killer.. just used regular spices from home and a little fresh parsley! AMAZING! and yummy both hot AND cold

I find that mint tastes especially fab when infused into lemonade splashed with absolut citron... can be kind of dangerous though tee hee. Also... make up your own arnold palmer and simple syrup and infuse the simple syrup with mint and then use it as a sweetener for your iced tea/lemonade.. it's amaaaaaaaaaaziiiiinggggg
