Hi!
I would like to adopt a cat, but I have Endo and in a couple of months I will have a Laparotomy.
Would anyone be so kind to tell me if it is "safe" or good for my health to have a cat?
I believe the emotional benefits are clear, but I donĀ“t want to jeopardize my recovery.... Thanks in advance

Do you know if you're allergic to cats? If you are, then obviously it would jeopardize your health, but otherwise, I'm sure it would be great for your health. The only problem is how to take care of the cat when you are recovering from the laparotomy. If you live with someone else or if you have someone who is willing to come in every day to feed your cat and clean the litter box, then it's not a problem. Otherwise, you may have to put off the adoption until after the laparotomy--you don't want your surgery to jeopardize your cat's health, after all! Sometimes my cat can tell when I'm in a lot of pain, and it worries him, but of course he's never been able to figure out what's wrong! My cat is often the only comfort I have. So, I would go for it if I were you!

Well i am alergic to cats and dust so i stay away! But 5 years ago my mom got me a lovebird! i've been in love since then, when im in pain he realy makes me laught! they interact with you just like a child!
Cleaning him can be very eassy if you by the send paper that goes on the ottom just change the paper every day or i get alot of hamster wood chips and empty that every day.
I got a stand up cage so i don't have to bend down when im in pain. Plus you can realy talk to him and play. Mine sings!
!!!!! Well Good luck !!!!!

I have 3 dogs and without them I would be completly lost with my disease and depression...............As long as you have someone to take care of your pet while you are in the hospital, you should be fine. You will probably heal faster with a loving pet next to you. Good luck!!
