Yes, this is what I'm being tested for, but I hvae to do a breath test--odd? Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with this. After all, I have spent an inordinate amount of time in Darfur. Clean food really isn't an option. and even if you brush your teeth with bottled water, you can't shower in bottled water...
Not that you really shower in Darfur anyway. More like squat under a hose.

I guess. It's just easy to blame all the crazy places I hang out. I mean, look at this visual Don't have great pictures of Darfur unfortunately--it's illegal to take pictures and so you have to take them from behind walls and wire in teh compound, when no one can see you.

Something like 40 odd % of the world's population gets it at some point in their lives.

oh man, Helen. That sucks. are you on more antibiotics?
How are you on dairy? If you can handle it, have you ever tried Kefir? It's lactose free, I believe, if that's any help. But it has tons of good tummy bacteria and is really good at kicking out the bad bacteria.

Start the treatment tomorrow, four different meds for 2 weeks at several different times a day. It's a total mare. And no alcohol for a fortnight when I'm away on company business for a week on expenses. I might delay the treatment...lol. I don't know why, I really don't. I'm a hygienic person, I don't live in squalor!

That's kinda what I suspect Karen, that it never totally went and has increased again. Damn little bug! There are websites I've come across that claim to be able to treat it with herbs and so on, but they're a bit 'quack'-ish. I actually see the GI doc on Nov 18th, I might wait to see them before taking the treatment again. Rust, I cut down on dairy as it deffo makes me nauseous, especially milk, I use lactose free milk now. This bug burrows down under your stomach lining and produces its own protection against the stomach acid so it's really hard to get at!!

I'm sorry you tested positive again. I imagine that's really frustrating. Hope the treatment works and that bug is gone permanently.

I'm sorry to hear that, Hells. i don't know if it will help with the stomach bacteria but I will put in a plug for Kefir, I eat it everyday and it is gluten-free and 99% lactose free. It literally brought me back from not being able to eat much of anything due to d-predominant IBS. I used to make my own but it's kind of a pain in the as$.

more than half the population carries the bacteria H-pylori in their nose, mouths, and guts. Some will have issues with the it like developing stomach ulcers, but most people have no symptoms from it at all. Also, treatment is not usually successful, the bacteria is never really irradicated. I have h-pylori but am allergic to all the antibitoics that treat it so I will not take the antibitoics, besides, the chances of fully irradicating it are very slim and even if you did, you will almost absolutely be reinfected again. Treatment is usually only given to those who have actual ulcers. There are some natural things that treat this bacteria. One being mastic gum and another being manuka honey. But again, it will be almost impossible to "fully" irradicate this bug....

Ah I think there are many other affects of H Pylori that you're overlooking. The stress and strain it can put on your body overall, constantly trying to deal with it, can lead to many unpleasant symptoms. It's not impossible to eradicate it, but it is difficult, I agree. I had an endoscopy in December and they cultured the sample to check what antibiotics it's sensitive to, so I'm currently taking those to give it another shot and I'm hopeful I'll get rid of it. If not, I'll try some natural methods that I've heard about or I'll just stop trying.

Hiya, just saw this. Upper abdominal bloating, heartburn etc. I had chronic urticaria in 2007/2008 and when I went through some tests they found it. I hadn't really noticed any symptoms but when I googled it, it made sense. There are a few good websites out there.
