Whoa.................Omaklackey! No it doesn't! Blood tests and stool samples are an easy painless way to diagnose! You do have to be careful about when and how you re-test, but you do NOT have to have an endoscopy to diagnose it, as I've found out twice!

very cool! *and way easier* That was what the doctor told me but oh well, as it turned out I needed the endoscopy anyways as I had some major problems, Like Hiatal hernia and ulcers. (possibly from to much Ibuprofen) I was kind of hoping for H. pylori because it would have been something easily fixed.

H.Pylori is extremely common, but because it's so common it's often 'downgraded' by doctors. It can play havoc wth your stomach and cause a lot of discomfort, but a huge amounf of people have no symptoms at all. It can often be easily diagnosed and easily treated, so I'd always reccomend getting tested. If a doc says it HAS to be an endoscopy, RUN A MILE!!!

I tested positive for H Pylori in 2006 - My doc failed to inform me of this until 2 yrs later when it suddenly appeared on his system.
I was given the triple therapy treatment & at a later date due to really bad Acid Reflux - I went for the endoscopy. Was more afraid of the results to be honest.
Wasn't bad at all - a biopsy was taken results Triple therapy worked totally erridicated which astounded me because someone didn't read the instructions properly took my meds all wrong - however the acid reflux was getting progressively worse id the camera down a second time within a yr - Not good! won't go into details incase someone is waiting for this proceedure - again biopsy thankfully no HP..
Peace of mind goes a long way - If anyone needs an endescope - Get it!

Are you supposed to have stomach cramping with this H Pylori? I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going on with this sudden constipation. If it was a partial bowel obstruction is there pain with that as well? I feel hungry and want to eat but I sorta don't want to knowing how much food I stil have in me from the past 5 days with very very little coming back out.

It's a simple stool test, I can't stress how strongly I reccomend getting tested. Proper, good treatment seems to have turned my life around quite a bit! There's some really good info and descriptions of possible side effects in the link I've posted.

There's new research out that H.Pylori might be passed in cows milk. I'll try and find a link to a good article.

My GI doctor actually returned my phone call! Amazing right? Anyways he is ordering a stool test for this or any infections for my bloating, pain, etc. I'm so glad he didn't make me drive all the way down to wenatchee just to tell me that. He is sending the test up here to the lab that they can work through. Double yeah! I don't want H. Pylori, but if it was something that could be "fixed" with some gnarly antibiotics that sure would be nice!

If all I ever had to put up with was a few doses of H Pylori for the rest of my life, I'd take it I guess. Far worse things to get, and the antibiotics should do the trick. I have to add though, that I had 3 rounds of 'triple therapy' for one week, none of them cleared it up. It was two weeks worth of 'quadruple therapy' that did the trick. Good luck, hopefully something straightforward will show up!
