I'm getting married next spring/summer. We want to do an east coast honeymoon but we don't really know where to go or what to do. Does anyone have any knowledge of this area.
We figure about a week. we don't want to go broke, but we want to have a nice time. We're more about fun that super romance. We want great places to eat. Not opposed to staying in multiple locations during the week (possibly an east coast "tour"). We don't want to stay in a major city, but don't want to be in the boonies either.
I'd really appreciate any help I can get.

I hear nothing but good things about the Carolinas. Maine sounds like it would be pretty neat to visit, as well (think of the B&Bs)... I've never been, but they're places I'm interested in visiting, one day.

I found a place neat Bath, Maine. It's a private cottage for $700/week. Which isn't bad considering you will pay at least $100 for a hotel. I was thinking of going to a travel agent and seeing what they suggest, maybe they have some nice packages.

I'm in BarHarbor, Maine at the moment!! Acadia National park is right here, and we just climbed a mountain today! The tow is equivalent to Door County with all the shops, stores, etc. You can rent houses per week all over the place. I'll post some pics when I get back. If you've seen an LL Bean catalog, you've seen the scenery. Don't know if itKs your cup of tea, but it's an option. They also have New England cruises that might be worthwhile.

Never heard of a new england cruise! I'll look into it. Bar Harbor was a place i did look at. If you don't mind me pumping you for info....
What is there to do other than climb a mountain? What kind of stores? Tell me about the food? We want some great food. (the future hubby wants fresh seafood which i know they have) are their little mom and pop places or just big returants? How exspensive is everything? I'd really appreciate pictures. What's the weather like? Have you been there before or was this a new vacation?

I agree with the ladies, Maine, the Carolinas.... all beautiful. How about Florida? Kinda down there but it's still the east coast! I also hear Cape Cod, Massachusetts is a great place.

I love Rhode Island its one of my favorite places to go. Great fresh seafood right from the ocean! Yummy:) Wonderful people and if you want to visit a big city just incase you need a little action Boston is great and nearby. The bed and breakfasts are fantastic! Let us know where you pick. Newport RI is a ton of fun too. Little shops and the mansions tours if you like that. Beaches are all around too! We always catch a Red Sox game when we are there. If you like baseball and beer Fenway Park is the best place in the country for that. The FANS are hysterical! If you don't like baseball you will after you leave Boston LOL!

When I download my pics, I'll post them! Lots of seafood, lots of local restaurants and mom and pop shops, great for biking, hiking, and walking, ocean tours, etc. (A lot of places were closed when I was there as it was off season, but they should be open in May.)
My sister and brother in law just bought a place to rent out by the week in the summer. It's priced for up to 11 people so it's too big for two, but I can PM you a link to their website as it has several links and maps to the area. I had never been there before but certainly want to go back!
(I just read my previous post and realized how many typos - sorry! Tiny phone keypad gets me every time!)

Maybe I should make a side note that due to the amount of medical bills I have associated with my endo/ovarian cysts, I don't have an endless budget so I'd like to have a nice honeymoon, but not a ton of money.
I don't want to just end up in the Dells, lol, which only Karen will get.

What? The Tommy Bartlett ski show, mini golf, and water slides don't scream romance and passion to you?

Thanks to Karen I found the PERFECT place. My fiance didn't totaly agree to it, but I keep talking about it like that's our place and he's not correcting me so..... BAR HARBOR, MAINE! I just can't get over how perfect a location it is. Whale Watching, Seal watching, lobster fishing boat tours, Arcadia national park 3 miles away for hiking, etc. Tons of resturants, and some awesome little shops. Everything we need all withing a couple mile radius. Hotel rooms are SUPER cheap, or we can rent a cabin for 7 days for $575!! The ONLY downside is that if I were to buy plane tickets this year for the dates we're looking at, it's almost $500 a person round trip. SO...that's a lot of money.
My dream vacation has always been to stay in a little B&B in some costal fishing town in Maine. No B&B this time, but it's close enough! Something I will be able to cross off my bucketlist.
