It just depends. I got mine back at 8-months post-partum, despite co-sleeping and nursing around-the-clock. I got it back 2-weeks after I started putting my daughter in a swing for naptime! Apparently, a couple 3-hr naps was all it took for me to resume ovulation.
However, the average time for a woman to get her periods back/start ovulating regularly is 14-months, if nursing and co-sleeping.

Oh. On the hormones to be tested after u finish w the provera, add prolactin. Elevated levels can also delay ovulation.

I didn't realize ovulation started back up even while nursing. Good to know.

I started stepping down the Provera myself last night. I cut back by 1.25mg. I know its not much, but I want to take it really slow, and hopefully I won't have any bad withdrawal reactions. When I came off Micronor I became extremely depressed as well as intensely nauseous. I am hoping to at least be back down to 5mg by next week, and then I will take it a bit slower from there. I can't wait to be off this drug!!

Good luck! Hope you have lots of relief. Does your doctor know you're coming off?

Nope, Ha, My doctor is on Vacation. But its something I've mentioned wanting to do a few times. She said I could do it cold turkey if I wanted to, but I think that would be too extreme for my body. I react to very slight changes very easily, so i want to be careful this time. Especially as I have the potential to get VERY depressed doing it too quickly.

I had no probs coming off it cold turkey, after 7.5 months I was ready to get rid. Hopefully doing it the slow route won't have effects either. You might find the spotting gets a bit heavier. Good luck hon!

Thanks for your well wishes!! Yeah, the bleeding is a concern to me, but as long as I can get over the initial pain, I fully expect to bleed for a while anyway. But, I was bleeding like the nile all summer long while on Provera anyway! So who really knows. I think its really a toss up as to how this will turn out, but I am determined to make it off this stuff. At least my periods will become predictable again once I am off it. Going back to the way I felt before starting it won't be a picnic, but I'd rather experience those feelings then the intense depression I have been feeling on the drug. I just hope all goes smoothly.

My dose was higher and my bleeding stopped completely. Within a few days of stopping it I had some light spotting, but it took around 6 - 7 weeks for me to have a proper period and it was a doozer. Really heavy and a nagging cramp but nothing mega bad.

I'm back down to 5mg again! My moods have seemed to level out a bit (ever so slightly, but I'll take it!) and I am feeling good about the decision to cut provera out of my life. I have been having a slight background headache since I started stepping down, which I think might be from the decrease in hormones, but then again who knows, as it is the start of migraine season for me. I haven't started to bleed yet, which I am curious about. I was due to bleed on Thursday. I got the stat of some intense cramping, and feeling sick right before bed, so I took precaution and had my hot water bottle and drugs at the ready, but they ended up subsiding when I laid down, and I fell asleep fine. I had a few cramps over the weekend too, but still no bleeding. I would have expected it to start with my decrease in Provera, but it hasn't. I'm certainly not complaining though!
I also decided to cut gluten out of my diet this week, to see if it would help with nausea at all. I've been feeling queasy and feverish for months, and I don't think it's all Provera's fault. So far so good! Gluten is the one food I have had the most trouble eliminating, but if it helps it will be worth it. I'm going to try and stick with it for 2 weeks, and then see how I feel Then re-introduce oats and things, to see if I can tolerate it. The whole wheat, and gluten aspect is really the only part of the endo diet I have not tried on my own. I am allergic to most of the things the diet suggests us not to eat, so I've had no choice but to follow a lot of it anyway.
Well, here's hoping it does something!! I cannot wait to be drug free!! Now all I have to do is figure out what I want to do about this lap....

I'm not sure if I am imagining one or not. I have been feeling slightly queasier I think, however, I have also been having a dreadful time waking up in the morning. I can't seem to wake up, no matter how much sleep I get. I keep sleeping through my alarm, by a significant amount of time. It is becoming a problem, and is disruptive to my day. I thought originally it was because Provera was making me tired, which is what it does to me, but I have cut back, and it doesn't seem any easier to wake up. Perhaps once things level out a bit more, I might find it easier. I don't really know.

I've had the same trouble waking/getting up for about a year now. I never tied it to Provera, but it's got a little better in the months since I came off it. You never know!
