So I just woke up, crawled out of bed, put on my slippers, and walked into my dining room. I turned on the light just as I was about to walk into the room, and sitting in the middle of my dining room floor was an EARTHWORM, squirming around the floor!! I almost stepped on the thing!!! I screamed so loud my neighbors probably think I just saw a masked murdered!!!!!!!
Normally, I'm not that squeemish about worms, but when you find one in the middle of your house, it's kind of disturbing!!! I can't figure out for the life of me how it got there. I mean, it's not even 30 degrees here and we still have inches of snow on the ground. It's not like it could have just gotten stuck on my shoes or something and made it's way into the house because the little buggers are in hibernation right now. So then I wonder if it somehow crawled in a crack in my patio door (which is a good 8 feet away). The weird thing? There was a trail of slime only about 5 inches long. It looks like the thing just got dropped in the middle of my floor god knows how. Ew ew eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
(I flushed it down the toilet to dispose of it!!)

As soon as I turned the light on, the things started thrashing around (well, as much as earthworms can thrash). I'm sure the light scared the crap out of it! I was thinking about it - there WAS a potted plant I had outside all summer, and brought it inside in October. Could that have been it? Regardless, it was a good 8 feet away from where I found it. Ugh, now I wonder where ELSE I'll find some more! I'm planning on scouring my entire house this weekend... I was going to regardless, but now I REALLY have the motivation! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

lol sorry. I should probably take it down. We had to dissect these stupid things in class, which included killing them too. It was so gross.

EW!! Karen, I probably would've ralphed on the spot! LOL, where the hell did the thing come from? That is just mondo bizarre.
That reminds me... Once, when my mom was gardening, I came outside to ask her something. I was barefoot, so I stayed on the sidewalk right in front of the porch. She answered my question, and before I turned around to walk back into the house, she said, "OOOh, take a look at this!" So, of course, I leaned over to see what she was talking about, and she had a nasty worm hanging from that weird garden implements that looks like a f00ked up fork. I was grossed out. She said, "No, but seriously, come over here, there's really something else I want you to see." I said, "No, way! I'm not walking around on wormy ground with no shoes."
She still gives me sh*t about that.

Ha - thanks for taking that awful pic down, Jenaya! We had to dissect those things, too, and they're just NASTY!
Oh, and I remembered that I bought a paperwhite plant (I LOVE how they smell) a few weeks ago, so perhaps that was the culprit? But the thing had to make some serious distance to get all the way from the plant to where I found it... I'm still super grossed out by that!!

How disgusting !!!! I know exactly how you feel, we tried composting with worms, which means you bring a container of worms and dirt into your house, and you feed them with your food scraps. Well for two nights, I woke up to find dead red worms all over my kitchen, eeeewwwww. On the second day I couldn't take my skin crawling anymore and we threw the composting worms in the garbage. I hope you don't find any more.

I hate when after it rains and they're all over the place and you're practically playing hopscotch to walk down the side walk and not step on one.
