Okay, so my boss... Wednesday, I had just gotten of the phone with a customer, and I had my phone headset on. Well, when I went to get out of it, I got caught in it, so when I got free, I tossed it onto my desk (thinking it would land on top of a huge pile of paper that shouldn't have been there, to begin with, but it landed just to the left of it, with a thud). My boss RUNS up on me, in the printer room, asking, "What's going on?" Not knowing what the f00k she was talking about, I answered, quizically, "Not much..." At which point, she advises me that I need to be careful with "their" headsets. WTF, lady... no matter what happened, the biotch would've been up my ass... and I just told her, "Sorry, I got stuck in it." And walked off, but I was pissed. It was a f*cking accident, and had I been anyone else, she would never have said anything. She was mad-dogging me for the 2 days leading up to that, anyway, so she was just waiting for any reason to get on my ass for anything. What a c*nt.

My own tl is great, runs the evenings team, but there's another manager who may end up being my boss and it's bad enough only encoutering him on the weekends. He's a slightly misogynistic, rude-and-doesn't-care, farting arse git. If I ask him for help, being that I'm newly trained on 3 different housing repair systems, he acts like it's a huge pain for him to answer a simple question (sighs and puts his head in his hands when he sees me coming) and yet tries to get me into trouble by saying I took 5 minutes to sort a call out cos I didn't ask him for help. That's his only complaint and he twisted it round. Well anyway the manager above him doesn't like him so I try not to worry but this guy is such an idiot that people refuse to work weekends which is when he's on. They're having a shuffle so that he's only in on saturdays, to try to get people to take the overtime offered for weekends, but the shuffle means he might become my actual manager. My current boss is training me as his deputy, whereas farting arse doesn't develop his staff at all and constantly moans and won't cut his own team some slack whilst trying to sh*t-stir with people off other teams - like me and my friend Amy - who are clearly being singled out for future management roles. The only thing he could ever say about me and he tried to make it into a drama. He has some IBS problem but he just sits there and farts constantly and stews in his own extremely bad smells which we have to endure. Rarrrrr. Rant over!

EW. You know, one day, you should just walk up to him, without a word, and hand him a roll of toilet paper, and then walk away. Not a word. Just the toilet paper.

I became a 'boss' for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Man it's harder than I thought it would be! The woman we've hired is 24 and really rather full of herself. I take her to meetings and she looks SO BORED which I think is entirely unprofessional, she interrupts people when they're talking and is generally driving me a little bit mad. Yesterday wasn't so bad, but it was a short day! She is nice and we get on, just a lot younger than me. I feel I want to coach her to be a little bit less in yer face. I'm so hoping I don't turn into a bitch of a boss!!

Well, as long as you get along, you'll probably be able to get through to her. She may, without realizing it, get cues from you on how to conduct herself in a professional environment. I don't think you'll become a horrible boss, because you've had them. Usually, horrible bosses get that way, because they haven't had enough experience with bad ones, or have had nothing BUT experience with bad ones.

Yeah, thanks. That's my take on it too, I know what qualities a good boss should and shouldn't have. Thing is, she's really only done contract work up to now so in some ways she's been her own boss. I'll keep plugging away......

I still want to punt mine across the office. There are three people in the office who regularly get their chops busted by this ankle biter: myself, the auditor, and the accounts receivable clerk. Guess what? The auditor and the accounts receivable clerk are friends of mine. The three of us have the strongest work ethics of anyone in the whole front office. The three of us have a tremendous amount of knowledge. Why on earth does this woman give us a hard time? Why would she try to run us off, knowing that if she did, nothing would ever get done? It's a mystery to me.

Yeah, or insecure, feels threatened and tries to 'put you in your place' to make her feel better.

You'd think she'd feel more secure... she's cute, and has worked there for 25 years, so where's the jealousy coming from? It boggles the mind. Apparently, she has nothing to feel threatened about, because I've heard (well, I've yet to see proof, however) that someone over her has been trying to get rid of her for years, but no matter what she does (read: doesn't do, especially anything of any importance), she seems to be un-fire-able. So, you'd think the midget from hell would lighten the f*ck up. She's still busy busting the A/R clerk's chops... but she's got solid proof that she's being singled out, so I'm pretty sure something's gonna hit the fan, at some point.

I had a few things happen to me today. I had a cart (not a shopping cart) with product on it. I had some almonds that I had bought open on it. Well a customer comes up to me and I had to get a manager for her. Well while the manager was helping her (he had to leave the register) she asked me if those were my nuts (I know I know you can't help but laugh at it). I said yes and she proceeded to get herself a handful like they were there for anyone to take. I was like 'Oh no you didn't'. I couldn't believe it. Well I told my boss about it b/c I wanted another can of almonds. I didn't know where that woman's hands had been. He told me that we weren't allowed to eat on the sales floor. I said 'well you need to tell everyone else that'. He said 'you are the only one that does it when I'm here'. Ummm WRONG! That really rubbed me the wrong way. Next one (still in the same day) I had my cell phone in my pocket. It was on silent but I forgot to silence the text messages. Asst Manager heard it and he told me it couldn't be in my pocket. Everyone has their cell phones in their pockets. I told him I would put it behind the counter. He said I couldn't put it there. Told me to put it in the locker. Told him that I didn't have a locker. He then said that it had to stay in the office then. An hour later...who is on their cell phone....yep him. I called him out on it too. Said he was talking to the store manager. Whatever..I didn't believe him. Last one: Same asst manager (we have five of them) comes to me and tells me that some guy stole five bottles of body wash while I was standing facing the opposite side of the aisle. He said it to me as if I let him do it. That rubbed me the wrong way too. He can be such a butt sometimes. I hate working with him. I feel better having told someone about it. Thanks!
