funny! You know, I came up with that name b/c I was staring out the window at a crepe myrtle tree. and then on gmail, all of the various myrtles were taken, so I started putting random colors in front of myrtle, and eventually I ended up with rustmyrtle. that's where free association will take you.

well, you're pretty close, Pretty! I think crepe myrtles grow most places on the east coast, but I do think of them as southern trees--there are certainly more of them in the south. I realize the name makes no sense, but I've been using it as my gmail for about 10 years so I almost think it's normal.

I love the way we come up with our user names. Some of them are very interesting! People should share why they came up with the more unique ones.

I have to upload some pictures of my area to explain a little bit where the name came from. Omak is the name of the town we "ended up" in when my hubby finished Paramedic school. I wasnt real impressed because we moved and then it snowed and we spent eight months snowed in, turned out it was record snowfall that year. We have so many stories like that about Omak. Lackey is a term from Cirano de Bergerac, and means servant or slave. I feel a slave to Omak tied by a job that pays less then he made before he went to school. But I have learned to love it eventually and am a servant by choice to my little town! I will get a really good picture to share of the area/town later

My husband and I used to work together (that's how we met), and there was this one guy that was a very nice but overly-enthusiastic assistant to one of the bosses. Hubby referred to him as the boss's flunky, and I referred to his as a lackey. One day hubby kind of flubbed the two together, and thus the young assistant was christened "Flackey". I think that was the beginning of our silly tendency to create new words from two synonyms. We have our own little language, almost. My screen name is one such word created by squishing our names together when we refer to ourselves as a collective being in our sickly-sweet-couply moments.

I just noticed the earlier posting by rustmyrtle about redheads and endo. That suddenly jogged a vague memory that a doctor had mentioned something about that in passing, although I can't recall if she specifically remarked about endo or just menstrual difficulties or something else entirely. I made some joke in reference to the fact that my hair color was fake, but that I was glad to know it looked natural.
I'm currently a blonde, but I don't like it so much and am going back to red as soon as I am feeling well enough to do it. My natural color is a very bleh shade of brown with gray creeping in.
