Ok, so started the new job yesterday. First day kind of stuff, lots of introductions, paperwork, orientation kind of stuff, so I didn't really do much 'work'. But, my gosh, the place is beautiful. They just built their new location a few years ago. Open floor plan, beautiful finishes, honking huge workspace, super nice people, and tons, tons, tons of natural light. Oh, and did I mention the lake views from just about every window? The temp place I was at was cramped, dirty and dingy and I noticed it had such an impact on my mood so I'm stoked to be in such a good-feeling environment!

Yeah Karen...congrats. Im glad the people are nice. Its true, where you work can have a huge impact on your mood so Im glad you'll be in a happier place.
I love lake views. Lucky girl

A nice workspace makes everything better, and I adore water views so that sounds heavenly! This is such a nice start after what you've dealt with recently.
Who'd have thought, a construction company having a nice office? At uni our School of Built Environment building is HORRIBLE!

So far so good. The girl that's training me is a hoot, and realizes that I'm a do-er, not a watch-er, so she's been giving me stuff to tackle on my own. Love it! The people are so nice so far, everyone is upbeat. Oh, and my favorite path to go running down by the lake? It's only a block away! Haven't been on it in ages, but it's just so nice, plus it's right downtown! My favorite part? TONS of natural light. I'm like a cat when it comes to sun. If there's sun, I like to sit in it, lay in it, etc. I came in this morning with the sunrise over the lake, and sun streaming in the 2-story windows by my workspace and I had the sun on my shoulders! Seasonal affective disorder can kiss my ass this year!  All in all, professionally and aesthetically, I think it'll be a fab place for me. |
