OMg i swear if im freaking asked one more time about how I'm finding work and how i should be going about it I'm gunna freaking shoot my brains out!!!
The economy here has been terrible! I seriously either get no answer back from jobs OR its a scam and not an actual job OR i get an answer saying sorry we had 300 ppl going for this position and its now been filled. (no joke 300). Like i know normally finding a job can be hard but f**king a right now its a whole another story.
Been stressing about money and finding work and its really annoying when ppl add to the stress and tell you what you should be doing.. even tho they themselves havent had to look for jobs in this job market.
ty for letting me rant. I'm seriously about to self combust..

sounds like its no fun at all! I'm sorry its been so hard, Its never nice to get 'unwanted advice' from people. Even if they are trying to help! My friend spent 8 months out of work before he managed to get rehired. He was constantly getting told about this or that thing that he should or shouldn't be doing?

When I got laid off, I told my family not to ask me if I got a job yet. I told them that if I DID get a job, I'd TELL THEM! Luckily, so far, they've been pretty good. Another thing I hate is people saying "Well, you can go back to teaching." One of my old teacher coworkers suggested THREE times in the same conversation. I spent a good 3 years trying to get OUT of teaching, and have been out for 2.5+ years, why the hell would I want to go back, get stuck into a year long contract, and be miserable every single day? And, I got laid off at the end of July - around here, most teaching jobs are filled by early June. And, yeah, I could sub, by why the hell would I want to?? It'd take time and energy away from searching for a real job, and for gosh sakes, I already have a part time job to tide me over, it's not like I'm desperate just yet! My favorite is when people forward me the most random job postings and ideas. My mom called me to tell me that since I do photography on the side, I should start taking real estate photos and build a business doing that and give up (after 1 month) finding a full time job. Problems with that: 1. I don't have my own equipment. 2. I'd get bored with that real easy. 3. No benefits. 4. Waste all that time and energy building up a business that I'd only do until I got a full time job, but I'd be spending less time looking for a full time job because I'd be trying to build up business. 5. Housing market is still crap around here. Ugh. Anyway, sorry to take over your post with my very own rant. I feel you, kiddo. If I remember, you're in graphic design, right? I know that's a tough market around here - took a good friend of mine with experience 8 months to find something after she got laid off. And she took a job that she's miserable at. She only got it because of a friend of a friend. I'm working a temp job these days, and it may lead to more, but I have no idea how much they'd pay in the long run so I'm still a bit anxious about it. Wishing you good, employable thoughts!

Yeah, I really lucked out with the temp job - it's right up my alley and I'm totally qualified for it, and it's with a REALLY good firm. That one just fell into my lap, so I'm quite thankful. The temp pay sucks balls, though. I could have worked less than 10 hours with my part time job and collected unemployment and would have made more than I'm making working 40 hours a week. I'm not one to live off the system and be lazy, but it's hard not to want to when I could be getting paid by the state to spend more time and energy looking for a job that'll sustain me in the long run! But, can't turn down work no matter what the pay or they'll cut me off of unemployment, so I'm screwed either way...

Here's how I feel when I'm struggling with something like this and someone gives you the most stupid and obvious solution.. it's like, "um.. do you really think I'm THAT stupid that I haven't thought of that already?"
I know how you feel. I just started lying to people to avoid the whole,"have you tried" or "what about" or "you know what you should do?" LOL when I hear sentences started with those phrases I just want to kick them in the teeth.
