OMGOSH ladies I am quite literally loosing my hair, is it motherhood, sleeplessness, a hormone thing after pregnancy? I am freaking out. Seriosuyl I have a BALD PATCH on the crown of my head the size of a 50p piece, I know it makes me sound so vain but I am devastated. I am so happy right now with amelia and being a mum, I dont think Im overly stressed but maybe I am more stressed then I thought?? I have 0 self esteem as it is I cant cope with freaking going BALD I would go to the doctor, unfortunately I HATE my doctor, however I am in his 'catchment area' I have to go to him (downside to the NHS) this guy tiold me 8 weeks after giving birhtthat I was 'so obese' I would have artheristis as I aged, ok so Im 5'11 and went from 168 pounds before having Amelia to 210 pounds then 196 after having her. I would hardly say obese. Yes perhaps a little too much weight gain but c'mon I was 8 weeks postnatal. Anyway for the above reason I dont want to go to the doctors but want to find out want the heck is going on. Sorry for the rant.

A good friend of mine had quite a bit of hair loss after her little one. It's been 8 months for her and her hair loss is finally starting to slow down. I've read hair loss is often due to estrogen dominance, too much estrogen, or too much testosterone.
And your doc? Well, he just sounds like an a**. I wouldn't want to go back to him, either!

yeah, Both my sister and i went through the hair losing thing... BUT please go to a doctor as soon as possible because it can also indicate a thyroid imbalance. Thyroid is a tricky thing since so many times the freakin' test comes up neg. when its really positive, but make sure and tell him about the tiredness and baldness. They are big indicators of thyroid which according to the complete book of endo we as endo women are more susceptable to.

Oh, and I should add that my friend mentioned above also has thyroid issues. Good call, Karla!

I had hair loss after my 2 girls were born too. I am just starting to have it now again after having my hysterectomy & ovaries removed. I've always thought I have a thyroid problem though too but the tests always come back negative, but I think I will be heading to my doctor again.

If either of you have ever tested and its come back negative there is another more accurate test to do for thyroid. I will try and find the info on it... but this is like everything else be proactive tell the doctor you really belive its thyroid and make him take you serious. Hormones will mess with hair, but be on the safe side
