So i lost my job yesterday. Out of the blue my bosses booked a meeting through my calendar called a "catch up" meeting, during which they told me my poisition was no longer viable and even though they hated to do it they couldn't afford to keep me on when no work was coming in for me.
I do understand their position- i've not been that busy of late. Still, it realy sucks!!! It's the weirdest feeling, i don' know what to do with myself. Stupidest thing but it feels like i've been dumped by a bad boy boyfriend- you know he wasn't good for you, but still miss him and cry lots! Like it wasn't my ideal job and i had actually been thinking about trying something new, but to happen like this...it just sucks!

So sorry to hear that, kiddo, that sucks!! In the same boat as you, but I had a feeling about things for some time and am not surprised in the least. My previous department was at 8.5 people when I started, and is now officially down to just 2...
Best of luck looking for something new, and feel free to vent/whine/share good news!!

Really sorry to hear that Rach. Also in the same boat, since april. Its not a nice feeling. I knew it wasn't personal, they let go over 200 people, but its still hard.
Hope you find something soon. Good luck.

^Oh gosh. My husband conducted a job interview with an engineer who graduated from Texas A & M. The idiot had a really low G.P.A., and he included that on his resume! He drew attention to it in the interview by talking about WHY it was low--he got divorced. He then started CRYING. In the interview. He cried even more when he started talking about the Texas A & M bonfire that collapsed and killed people. He said that he helped design that. HELLLLLLOOOOO!!!!!!! If you're interviewing for a position, don't start talking about that sh*t! This guy obviously had some mental issues...and he didn't get the job. LOL

Sorry to hear that Rach... it's really such a scary time.
Thanks for the laugh Olenska and Ouchy - too funny! You have to wonder how some of these people survive on a day to day basis ;-)

Thanks for all your lovely messages! I'm just about to check out that link you posted Karen.
I was working as a copywriter/creative writer at a graphic design agency. They never had anyone doing that role befoer me, they got real busy last year and decided they needed someone...unfortunately the busy-ness didn't last! I am a tad annoyed because the salesgirl that we have has only gotten like 2 sales since she's been there...and yet they haven't fired her. Oh well, like i said it wasn't my ideal job.
The good news is it has given me a push to definately decide to go back to uni next year. Which means that in the meantime i will just take any job i can get, fingers crossed i find something suitable soon!

HAHA that article was so funny! I sat in on an interview for new employees once and the girl asked, "How long do I have to work here before I can transfer out?" LOL! She didn't get the job.

The HR manager at my last job said her worst experience was when she was doing a phone interview with a potential construction superintendent... and she heard the toilet flush in the background...
