No I cannot walk any faster because I just had surgery you rude b*tch. And hanging out of your car window and yelling, "Come on I don't have all day!!" isn't going to make me freaking walk any faster either!!!! UGH people suck! I think I need to just stay at home

see now you should have faked a pain in your belly and called the ambulance right from the middle of the road and then taken a really long time with the hot paramedic and EMT before finally signing a no transport form and then slowly walk where ever you were going. That would fix her! BWAHAHA!

HAHA! I was sooooo tempted to just stop in the middle of the crosswalk and block her from getting past me but I thought, hmmm if this lady is psycho enough to nearly run me over then yell at me then she might be crazy enough to get out of the car and kick my ass. I've never been in a fight and I'm not exactly physically fit right now to be able to defend myself. LOL but I was sooo tempted. HAHA! But I like your thinking about the hot paramedics helping me. heheheee

Wait, lemme clarify, I'm an EMT but a hospital based EMT. For some reason they like to call us ER medics so I have just gotten in the habit of calling myself a medic. I love emergency medicine, which is why I'm in school to be an ER doc! I've been an EMT for 8 years. Where does your hubby work?

Lifeline, Omak washington (it wasn't by choice just what was available - hence my username) We are going tommorow for the big "fire dept.' test back home where my family lives. So send him good thoughts on thursday! He has two paper tests (which I"m so not worried about he is a 4.0 student) and a phyical agility which if he passes he goes on friday for a interview and oral board. It means way better pay and more importantly full benefits including medical which I really need. I'm currently on basic health and holding my place on it by my teeth since they keep trying to bump us off. ENDO stage IV, as well as my moderate asthma without medical insurance would be really, really bad!!! So where are you at in the road to being a doctor? Still on pre-reqs or what? If the hubby can't get the job we are looking at him doing an ARNP program instead. He can get that done pretty quickly with all his previous schooling!

I've always wanted to be a flight medic. It's pretty competitive but I was willing to give it a shot. I am junior at the University of Maryland studying physiology and neurobiology. Good luck to your husband and all the testing! How fun! I love EMS, it's such a fun community of people to know.

yes its a very unique community. One of his co-workers and friend came over to spend the afternoon with me and she waited till the kids left the room and wanted to see the scar! Only EMS guys can appreciate that kind of thing. It still had the ugly stiches on it so it was impressive. Even she winced when she saw it! You should here the conversations around our family... we have two Paramedics and a nurse. My older sister hates all the blood guck and gory, but I think it is hilarious!

HAHA! ME too! My mom hates when I talk about work. I'm completely banned about mentioning anything gross. But a lot of people love the fun and unique stories I have in my experience in the ER. There's no place like it! God bless EMS! What I hate about being an EMT in the state of Maryland is all the EMS is VOLUNTEER! Can you believe it?? Nobody gets paid to work on the ambulance. All the firemen, paramedics, and the EMTs are staffed with volunteers. It's so sad. Isn't that strange? I thought it was so wierd when I moved hear and found out that it's all volunteer here.

yeah that is a common complaint from the east coast. Everything here on the west coast is paid, Private ambulance and Paid fire dept. Only the very tiny towns have volunteers and even many of them maintain a paid chief or at the least a secretary to help out.

I've only been here for 2 years. I grew up in California and everything was paid. I think it's horrible to force people who save lives to work for free!!
