Hello everyone. In the past 6 years i have been put on Lupron, Depo, and then birth control continuously. i have not been able to tolerate any of them very well. i've suffered horrible side effects. I have finally reached a point where I can't take it anymore. The superficial things like skin problems, massive weight gain, hair loss, pale in comparison to the emotional/hormonal effects. I don't even know who i am anymore. I've gone from the life of the party to someone that people don't want to be around. I flip out over everything and can't control it even though i know i'm not having a rational reaction.
Anyway, i've decided to get off of the pill. I know it will be extremely painful, and maybe i don't really know what i'm in for. Has anyone done this? what has been your experience? Thanks for any info!
I hope you are all well and not in pain as you read this

I expected it to be extremely painful in coming off the pill, too! Boy, was I wrong! MOST of my problems that I chalked up to endo were actually from the pill all those years I was on it! Day-to-day pain improved probably 95%, pain with sex got a whole lot better, and my skin looked younger, too!
I hope you will have as good of an experience as a lot of us on here have had when quitting the pill. We have some threads on it somewhere, if you do a search.
Good luck with it!

I absolutely LOVED coming off the pill. I finally felt like myself again! I can't really explain it, but it was like a weight was being lifted off of me emotionally. The only down-side was that I started developing ovarian cysts since I was beginning to ovulate again, but I'll take that over the way the pill made me feel (and I was on it for 10 years!)

wow i'm glad you both have had good experiences! I'm just nervous because i have had some breakthrough bleeding and it's been extremely painful. i've even had really bad cramps with no bleeding at all. I'm trying to be optimistic and i know that I am making the right decision. I have been suffering with endometriosis for 18 years, and the worst period of my life has been the last 6 years. I also have ovarian cysts so i'm a bit worried about that part of it. But, i'm hoping to go to Atlanta this summer for surgery. thanks for your feedback!

If you're anything like me, the breakthrough bleeding hurts more than the actual 'period' you get on the pill, so at least when you stop taking it you shouldn't get that. I guess the best thing about this approach is you should see fairly quickly if it is working for you or not, and if not you can always start taking it again. Make sure you let us know how you go, i'm really interested to know, as it is something i think about quite often. Good luck, and i hope it makes a big difference for you!

Yes!!! I forgot about the breakthrough stopping! I bled less OFF of the pill than on!

i will definitely let you know. I haven't had a real period in 6 years. I've had a few breakthroughs but not an actual cycle. I've been wanting to get off the pill for such a long time, i think i'm ready. my doctor gave me a big prescription of percocet, told me i was brave and gave me a nice long hug! fingers crossed this goes okay because i don't think i can face having to live on the pill again.

Oooh ! Oooh! Forgot to also type about pain with urination disappearing! Think that was teh best part..
The WORST part is ovulating after coming off the pill. For me (and also my friend), I experienced a jelly-like cervical fluid that stung like crazy! It felt like a bee stinging! Took several cycles for this to subside.

I had a stinging urination pain with periods while on the pill.
Just wait and see if you have the jelly cervical fluid that stings.

so i took my last pill thursday night. saturday morning i woke up feeling bruised inside as if someone had kicked me in the pelvis. i got cramps later on, and had them on sunday. yesterday morning wasn't too bad but by the afternoon i was in pain again. This morning i'm in pretty bad pain and i'm starting to bleed. I'm getting very severe pain in my rectum (that always used to happen when i had my period) and it feels as if my vagina is spasming and really hurts. ugh! what have i gotten myself into ?
