I can kind of understand not being able to spell endometriosis. It's not a super common word for people who don't have to deal with it like we do. Also, working for an insurance company isn't really part of the medical field, in a sense. It's more so the insurance field.
Incorrect spelling is almost as annoying as wrong capitalization and not using punctuation marks and run-on sentences!

Ugh, just got off the phone with my mom. We don't get along, haven't for ages, we now live far, far away. We typically talk about 4 times a year for about 10 minutes tops, but she found out in March what was going on with my health and now feels the need to call more often. I'm all about educating people about endo, but she asks the same questions every time, and she has the shock in her voice every time I tell her the same answers that I've told her before. And she always says something really dumb... Today was no exception.
We were talking about my allergies/illnesses that I had as a kid, that there's a link to allergies/endo. She eventually suggested I get a vaporizer to see if that helps with the pain, since that always used to help when I was a kid. When I had a cold. Does that sound as stupid as it does to you as it does to me??? Ugh!

Hmm, does she leave long, rambling messages on your answering machine about the weather, what she's doing that weekend, and gives you absolutely no reason to call her back because she's covered everything she was going to say on your machine? If so, I think we're related...
(Oh, and the last time we talked, she asked if me being on BC for so many years could have caused endo. She always told me growing up that she'd rather I get pregnant than put me on the pill so I knew the consequences of premarital sex, so she's been looking for a reason to say 'I told you so' about BC for years... It was nice to be able to reply that BC is often the first course of treatment!)

hahaha that's gold!! Oh man i wish a vapouriser could help! Maybe if you pointed the steam at your belly and warmed it up a little?
(BTW i have a cold and am totally in love with my vapuriser at the moment. Its like going to bed in a steam room, yay!)

I hate when people get all concerned when I tell them I had surgery but then when I tell them it was because of "female problems" they all cast if off like it's nothing. Then when I try to explain what it is they act like it's not a big deal. Like, women's reproductive organs should be all screwey, it's normal! UGH!

I had one person keep telling me... I just didn't think you would still be laid up like that, this was two weeks after my Laparotomy? I had a 25 staple incsion from belly to pelvis and she thought I should be feeling better? And yes I've gotten really hesitant about how to tell people about endo because people are very squimish when you mention the girly parts. I say we tell them its like cancer... cells that morph into other cells and lie outside the body. (one of the many theories of how endo starts) Of course then I freaked the living crap out of my dad until I told him its not life-threatining and now he might not take my pain serious. I guess stupid things people say will continue to plague us!! Or my mom who keeps telling me that If I just got a hysterectomy I would feel all better. I can't seem to explain to her that its not in my uterus?
