I'm new here. I've had endo for years, but I just found out that I have a chocolate cyst on my left ovary. I can feel it, these last couple of weeks. I'm waiting to hear when I can have surgery, and in the meantime, the specialist I saw told me to avoid yoga and weightlifting, because of the risk of rupturing the cyst. I'm a professional bellydancer, I perform and teach, and I also really love to exercise. I usually do cardio and weight sessions, as well as yoga. I don't like to be immobile. But I'm concerned. Is it safe to dance, at least? The main muscle groups involved are psoas, pelvic floor, lower abs, and glutes. I'd rather err on the side of caution, especially since I can feel it. It doesn't hurt, exactly, but it feels sore and...present. Advice appreciated!

i wouldnt risk it. Having a chocolate cyst rupture will create scar tissue and the pain is absolutely the worst thing i have ever felt in my life. I would rather eat insects and not shower for weeks then feel that pain again. If you can feel the cyst it must be rather rather and does require sugery. If you have already been diagnosed with endometriosis having a cyst rupture could cause more endometriosis locations. good luck with this!! if you are teaching, take it easy, move at a slower pace and try not to twist too much just incase your ovary is attached to some other organ. Let us know when your surgery is scheduled!!
