Hi- I'm just getting started on the endometriosis diet and I wondered what you all think about eating buffalo meat? I don't eat much meat, more fish, but I do want to get another high quality protein source, and good organic chicken is so expensive and hard to find, that I wanted to find something else. My boyfriend likes buffalo meat and since it is eats only grass, is supposed to be healthier than most meats. I was a little concerned because technically it is considered to be a red meat, but he says that there it is better for you than most meats, doesn't have the things in it that cause problems... just curious as to others opinions... thanks, Fern

The endo-recipe books says to cut out red meats because of prostaglandins. The other things they typically put in red meats are really awful, like hormones and antibiotics, but those aren't listed as the main reason to cut them out. Apparently the prostaglandins can wreak havoc with your system and make matters worse for endo related pain.
Kind of like the advice I suggested with the rye, cut it out completely and if after three months you would like to re-introduce red meat, buffalo sounds like a good choice, but only eat it in moderate amounts.
