Hello All-- Gotta a question. I know there are a million side effects of the BCP but within the last 2 weeks I have been getting "charlie horses" at nite, I'd say about 2 a weeks now. Saturday nite was the worst. I know low potassium levels cause legs cramps, my question is do BCP's cause potassium levels to get low?

I know that there is a specific warning on Yasmin (gotta be w/ Yaz and generics of that progestin, too!) that it can lower potassium.

I believe that it probably is because even though my birth control pills (Cryselle, the generic for lo ovral) don't say anything about muscle problems, I have had severe muscle cramps/pain in my upper leg muscles before. I take them continuously for endo, so I'm pretty sure the bc did it to me, as i'd never had that problem before. It got better after i took a break from them and didn't come back my second long round of continuos bc.

well, even though i have/had some side effects, they seem to be working as far as keeping me from bleeding at all. The last 3-4 months I was on them with no break, and I had no spotting whatsoever. I guess everytime could be different though!

Two days after taking the first pill, my scalp and forehead broke out in huge red clusters of cysts. No joke, I looked like I had AIDS from back in the day or something with all the red dots on my face! Worst headaches I've ever had.
That pill also dried my face and skin out so bad. It seriously aged me. Made everything dry, including leading to vaginal atrophy like a post-menopausal grandma! Even my nails changed, and the dermatologist I went to said it was "age." Yahhh. I was 23. LOL. Anyway, after quitting the pill, my skin looked better in a couple months, though I dont' think it will be ever quite like pre-Lo/Ovra/Cryselle.
Another thing, even urethral aggregates of cells were coming out when I'd pee. Hurt so bad to pee since everything was so dry! Felt like a bladder infection! I could literally see clumps of dead skin cells in the pee water! TMI, I know. Just trying to illustrate HOW horrible that pill was for me!
