ahhh the endo diet.. i believe its on here somewhere. Ive never tried to tackle it myself, i believe its no read meat, no dairy, no wheat, no caffiene, no alcohol and eat all organic fruits and veggies, organic everything!!! im sure ive probably forgotten something, i myself stay away from non-organic meats alcohol and caffiene. I cant give up wheat, its not possible for me i love carbs too much! i also buy everything organic, milk, poptarts, garnola bars, cereal, everything in y house is organic. although expensive it helps my pain out tremendously!!! im sure the other ladies will have more to add. don't freak out, different things effect everyone differently! you just have to try not eating say, dairy for a month and see if your pain feels better if not, then try giving up wheat for a month and see if that helps. its all trial and error! good luck!

I'd also recommend the various threads on this board, since some less drastic diet modifications have still been helpful to some people.

juls, i also LOVE carbs but have luckily found a few things which have helped me drastically reduce my wheat intake (which has helped with IBS a lot). I now eat gluten free pasta (i think its made out of potator starch) and it is SO MUCH NICER than corn and rice pasta, which tend to go gluggy. I also eat wheat free breads (made from rye, oats, and other things, so its not gluten free but is wheat free) I get a buckwheat pancake mix wich is really really good.
By doing this, i feel i can allow myself a nice crusty whi8te bread roll every now and then! Because there are some things you just can't replace!

I loved the endo-diet while I was on it althought it was VERY difficult. I've since fallen off the bandwagon and will try to do a more modified version like what Rach said in the post above. I'd recommend the diet if only for 1-3 months along with a colon and liver detox program to start to set you right again.

my daugher, and by default me, are about to start trying this macrobiotic diet out, on the advice of her gyne. i just picked up a copy of " The Hip Chicks Guide to Macrobiotics" at the bookstore today, so hope it gets us psyched up for what is sure to be a challenge. you may want to check and see if your library has it.

I highly recommend Carolyn's cook book simply for the information about what to eat and what not to eat.
Personally, my wife and I have not liked any of the recipes we have cooked out of the book if followed exactly. I'm a creative cook though and when I cook recipes from books, I always taste them. I'm always wondering how to make Carolyn's recipes more tasty.
Salt, Lemon juice and Maple Syrup are the 3 main flavor changers for making it more Salty, Sour, Sweet. Crushed Garlic/Ginger and Caramelized Onions are my favorite additives if it's just too bland. My favorite herbs are Coriander(AKA Cilantro), Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Basil.
Adding combinations of all those things make most of Carolyn's recipes wonderful. And my wife is mad about fish so we often add a fillet of Salmon.
These things make the diet very easy to follow because we always find the food so tasty. I can't see we will ever be tempted to "fall of the wagon" since we both feel so much better (yes even us males can really benefit from the endo diet (and enjoy it)
