Hello all, I am having surgery in 6 days. The 2 dr.s said they would try to leave my cervix but since my left ovary is attached to it (somehow still haven't figured that one out yet) they are not sure if they can save it. Has anyone else had this done? Is it common? Are there lasting effects? Thanks for any advice! Kara

Hi Kara, sorry, you've probably already had your surgery and I just saw your post but hope this helps, I had a hyst. on 6/9/08 and my doc gave me lots of info re/taking v leaving the cervix. Evidently for some women (me), sexual pleasure is increased when the penis hits the cervix. Now, I had mine removed because of my age mainly and I was concerned about cervical cancer. You still have to have a pap every year b/c it will test you for vaginal cancer which my doc says is very rare, but hopefully you were able to discuss all your issues w/your doc. Mine was very informative and helped me make my decision. I hope yours was too. I haven't tried out my new equipment or rather lack of, sexually speaking, since the surgery so can't comment on the pleasure thing now. I hope your surgery went well and you have a rapid recovery. Please let us know-ok?

Hello, thanks for your response. I had my surgery 3 days ago. I still have my cervix and ovaries. Apparently my ovaries or tubes to them or something were all twisted and cutting off circulation. I am unsure of all they did as they talked to me the next morning in the hospital but I had a bad night and between the drugs and sleeping pills I cant remember all he told me. I will find out next week at my follow up. Thanks for responding though!
