Good morning Peeps,
I was wondering whether others have lupus and how it was diagnosed? I am undergoing blood tests at the moment to find the cause of spontaneous bruising.

When I was in high school, before I was diagnosed with endo. I was tested for Lupus. I am glad to say it was negative, but I too bruised real easy and when I got a scratch my blood would clot real fast. I also has problems giving blood samples because my blood clotted too fast and there were unable to take the needed about. I also had a high sesitivity to being outside in the sun. I guess with all these symptoms they figured it was enough to test me.
I do have a weak immune system and that is pretty much all they told me. But I did have to go through a battery of tests to get the negative result, even though I am pretty sure there is no one test that diagnoses Lupus. I am not sure which test actually gave me the results of not having Lupus but I had blood work, a spinal, EKG, EEG,urine samples, skin biopsies and probably others that I can not remember right now.
Lupus is real hard to diagnose, it took me over a year for them just to say they did not think I had it. But I know that they check your antobodies in your blood and usually take skin biopsises. I hope this helps!

Hi Tiff,
Thanks for that. The GP rang me today with the blood results. It seems everything was normal (liver function, platelets, haemoglobin, kidney function) apart from the clotting tests. One showed my blood is clotting slower than normal, and another was just below normal.
I guess the fact that platelets are normal rules out lupus.
However, I'm still none the wiser.

Well I am so happy everything cam back good.
If you had Lupus you would have a problem with your blood clottng too fast not too slow. So that is a positive.
What do they want you to do about the slower than normal clotting?

I don't know what I'm supposed to do about the slow clotting. Look on the bright side that it doesn't clot too fast and cause a DVT?!
I haven't had an answer. I'm still a bit worried because back in October I had significant bleeding after an op which required a complete change of gown and sheets.

You all are probably not even looking at this thread anymore, but I was just looking to see if anyone had this problem as well as endo. As if things weren't already bad enough, I've just been diagnosed with lupus to go with the endo. Arrg! I don't really know a lot about lupus at this point, so if anyone out there does actually have both, I'd love to hear from you.

Well, I guess I should be glad that I'm not just losing my mind. There actually is something wrong with me. My only hope is that this is something that can be treated!
