You know Trish, i am actually having a similar problem. My last 2 periods, have had massive migraines, the OMG kind, the ones that stops functioning, last month it only lasted a day, this month 3 days.
Problem is I cant be sure if it is PMS or allergies, i do get headaches from allergies, but it has never before lasted 3 days.
Heres the big problem, with this last one, i had 2 possible other causes, a chocy ice-cream which would normally cause a headache and snoring overnight and go away, and i have started new supplements.
I suspect its allergies except for the timing, and since i had one around the same time last month im really thinking its PMS, or at least allergies aggravated by the PMS.
I do recommend a pain reliever with asprin and codeine (it works for me), doesnt get rid of it, but makes it bearable.
I have been reading about menstrual migraines lately, which is caused by the drop in estrogen that occurs around your period, makes alot of sense to me that that might be happening to me, since estrogen dominance is a prob with endo, makes sense we might feel the drop quite badly. Have my fingers crossed that once i get my hormones under control this will go away.
Also, if its PMS ones, makes sense too for estrogen dominance, have had shocking PMS lately, terrible when ur getting angry one minute and crying the next, and knowing exactly why.
But yeah i feel your pain, to me it just seemed another thing to make life a living hell, i couldnt stand it on top of everything else, and worse, i couldnt think, my concentration is already poor enough with the fatigue, man i hate my body sometimes!!!!

I've had endo found on both of my 2 laps, and I have low estrogen, as I also have PCOS. Even though I have low estrogen, I get hormonal headaches, too. Rather than the drop of estrogen, I tend to get mine when the progesterone rises right after ovulation.

Ouchy- Do you take a test to find out your hormonal level??? I have never had a Dr offer it.
Thanks for the link....I went home from work could not handle it. I took everything I had nothing would even lessen the pain. The finally I took a sleeping pill that the Dr prescribed and I had beed terrified to take...but I am back today.

My last period (halfway thru) I got a shocker headache that lasted 3 days. Hubby has noticed I've been getting more headaches lately. I hate headaches, nothing takes them away. They're prob not migraines cos I don't get spotty vision or a gremlin aversion to light or anything. But the headache could have been from the hot weather. Although I'm usually quite fine with hot weather. Anyway... not happy!

Hi neverendo I get migraines all the time when I have mt period when I don't and the only the that has worked is Advil ( ibuprofen) and gravol, but everyone is different. By the this is off topic but in your last post you were talking about having a headache because of the hot weather. Where do you live because I'm jealous. We have snow up here.

Well, I don't get migraines, just regular headaches, which are annoying enough, and nothing works for them, including advil, and i forget what gravol is... i can get some slight improvement from aspirin but nothing worthwhile. My bestie lives in ON and she has mentioned gravol before but I don't remember what it is, things are named differently "down under" in Australia where we do not have -30 windchills Today is a very mild 22 deg C and I'm loving it. ;D You should come visit

I use Fiorinol for my headaches. It has butalbitol, aspirin, and caffeine in it. Lovely stuff! I can't take it now, though. I shall miss it. heeh

I use codalgin. It has asprin and coedeine together. I know coedeine is a no no for alot of us, but the odd occasion has never effected me. This combo is what is used in hospitals for migraines. If u go to emergency, chances are ull get some of that. U can also use mersyndol, i dont like it coz it puts u to sleep, but my mum who has had migraines all her life swears by it. It has paracetamol, coedeine and a muscle relaxant in it (also good for period pain )

I'm going to a Neurologist for my Migraines. They've gotten to the point where I can have vertigo for up to a week at a time (where it's debilitating). She keeps just sticking me on new drugs (mostly artery-opening heart drugs). I'm tired of it!
Argh!
(just wanted to b*tch...LOL)

I'm new here but wanted to respond to the headache thread. I've suffered from migraines for many years, and they are usually around my period. I tried many different things, including Imitrex, but the only thing that truly prevents them from occurring is the progesterone cream. I've been using it for years and when I stop using it, the migraines come back. However, if I do happen to get a migraine anyway, if I can catch it really early (almost at the very hint of it coming on), I take a drug called Amerge. It really wards it off. I also make sure I get plenty of magnesium. Hope this helps for the migraine sufferers.
