I used milk thistle and saw palmetto and this has cleared my terrible acne right up. Also use good bacteria capsules whiched seemed to help calm the spots down too.

Anyone got any advice on how to cope with sebaceous overload (this due to hormones on GnRH/HRT) I have gone from normality to being some sort of oily fish literally overnight! My scalp, previously healthy, has turned quite greasy, as has my skin. I had this last time and I was at a loss on how to tackle it, stuff I did only seemed to work about 4 months after the treatment ended! I ended up pretty spotty and it was horrible. Painful and yucky looking. I have a head start cos I knew it could happen again, and have a much better diet. If anyone can advise about how to tackle this, please let me know Like even how to freshen up while at work. Shiny is not nice!

Get the Proactive stuff. I almost never believe anything they sell on TV -- but a coworker of mine started using it -- OMG her skin is SO gorgeous!!!! No oil, zits, redness ANYTHING!!! She gave me some to try and now I'm totally addicted! My skin hasn't been this perfect since I was like 3 years old!!!!

Sorry to play devils advocate but be careful with that Jessica Simpson endorsed proactiv skin care.. i know alot of peoplw that have used it and it has burnt their skin.. i seen it and it looked like sunburn. My sister like me has sensitive skin and i get eczema and it burnt her skin too. other than Karens post i havent heard too many good things about it so if you have sensitive skin cherry you might want to look into it a bit more.
i have noticed since taking the GnRh my skin has been different. if i get pimples they are huge like boils! and take ages to get rid of, i still have a scar from one its horrible!

My skin is super sensitive, or should I say my body is. I have eczema from stress! I took a skin product that was great for my hair and nails but did bugger all for my skin. Plus my hair became even more afro so when it's wet there's a bit that is super curly near the roots! I know that eating grapes is good for skin so I'll be eating more of those. I used to scrub my face with a mixture of honey and rough ground rock salt, I'll try that too. It's just that I saw a pic of my face from when I became spotty that my sister took, the scars were horrific as I'm very pale but dark skinned if you get me. Anything that works or has worked, I'm posting it here. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I gorgot how bad my spots were. And I'm getting as much sun as possible while the summer's here. Cass, if you are open to taking medication I had an antibiotic called Tetralysal, that calmed it right down, then my skin cleared up a lot even after that, it was like flipping a switch. you can only take it for 3 months and it has to be in the morning on an empty stomach. I worked out a little system for that haha. Luckily I don't wear makeup, it looks like I'll have to carry face wipes with me to keep my face clean. Washing with very hot water and salt is supposed to help. I can't use witch hazel so I use tea tree stuff. The little face brush and tea tree soap and toner from bodyshop is good, and I used to use a Roc home microdermabrasion kit. I'll start that again seeing as I got super lazy! And I will be using a warming charcoal mask once a week too, that draws out the toxins and my skin is really nice and soft after it. I'm gonna try to do things naturally otherwise though, like the egg yolk thing, and taking milk thistle. Cass I agree that they seem to come up big and take ages to go away, and they are so sore! I wish they were microwaves to blast the endo once a month instead of us doing this bloody hormonal crap guys

Hi Cherry, I know how you feel... I never had a problem with my skin in High School but now I have been on the BC pill since I was 15 I'm now 21 it seems my face (particularly around my jaw/chin/mouth area) is getting worse, it hurts and I am beginning to scar... I thought it was me not using very good skin products so I went to Ella Bache and had my skin checked out and a regime set up for me using their products, most of my face looks wonderful and radiant but nothing seems to help my problem area... But the beautician has told me acne around the jaw/chin/mouth usually is hormonal... woohoo how fantastic! :s

I got horrible painful acne after using Lupron. I tried everything with no results. It was a miracle when I found about a new treatment without medication. It's called Acne Laser Treatments with Levulan. It's time consuming and expensive but worth it.

Ok I think it is about time I comment on this thread. I have always had real bad acne and no matter what I tried nothing worked. I like jjuls22 took tetracycline for a few months in high school and ended up allergic to it. So if any one is on it I would look out for dizziness and double vision as it made the nerves in the back of my eyes swell. A reaction to this med. is uncommon but can happen. Now on to Proactiv, I bought Proactiv a few years ago because I was finally fed up with nothing working and my face looking like a pizza so I spent the money and bought some. I have very sensitive skin and this product is not meant for every one. I would be cautious if you have sensitive skin when using this product. I had a chemical burn that lasted almost three weeks and it hurt so bad. Oh and once the burn cleared my acne was still there. Just did not work for me Once I got pregnant I actually started to notice my skin clearing, I am not saying get pregnant to get rid of acne, LOL, but after I had my daughter I noticed it coming back to I decided to again spend the money and change my make up to that bare mineral make up I am sure you have all seen on TV. They have a store in town that sells it so I went and had a free make over and ended up buying it. I have been using it since January and love it. I have not had even one break out after about the 2nd week of using it. ;D Again everyone is different and things work different for everyone but if you haven't tried Bare Mineral Bare Escentuals yet it might be worth a try. The kit has this amazing face moisturizer in it that is not oily and does not clog my pores just like the make up. Sorry so long I just thought I should add my experiences with a few of the things mentioned.

I have been taking zinc to help with my problem of always being sick, and noticed that when I came off it a little while, my skin went back to being painfully spotty as when I'm on GnRH. So, if anyone would like to try, taking extra seems to have helped me a lot!

I never had acne until age 30 and then it was so bad I was in a great depression over it. I got on a medicine from my dermatologist. It did work and I kept on it for 1 year. I choose to stop taking it to see would happen if I got off and I was lucky enough that I stopped breaking out. Now I use Aveeno products head to toe. My skin is very sensitive and if I break out now it seems to resolve itself. I also changed my makeup when I hit 30. I buy Bare Essentuals you can get it at Sephora or their store usaully at the mall. The spa I go to for facials also has a great mineral make up line. My make up artist says any mineral make up is good you do not have to spend alot just get all natural products. I would say it works for me and the scars from the acne no one can see. I get more compliments now on my skin then I did in my 20's. Also a tip for covering the acne scars use a good brush.

I started using Bare Essentuals about a year and a half ago, and while it hasn't 'cured' my acne (has been very bad on jaw line - at one point had big painful purple cysts - awful and so depressing) I get fewer breakouts and they're not as bad. Has been getting worse over the last couple of weeks though, hate it.

Oh yeah forgot to say I do love the Bare Essentuals make up, it feels and looks lovely without that 'clagginess' you get with liquid foundation.
