Nari and I started posting this stuff in someone's intro thread--sorrrrrrry, gemini! So, to give her back her thread, I've started this one! What are some accents that make you laugh? And don't feel embarrassed about it bc we ALL have one--just try to speak a foreign language!

I love Oriental accents. I did quite a bit of accent reduction with Oriental Asians in university and on my own afterward, and I had a blast! I used to do something that would make them laugh and trick them in to saying cuss words and realize their accents called "minimal pairs," which is giving them words that have only one phoneme (sound) that is different between the set. i.e. sit, sh*t. They would both get pronounced "sh*t." LOL It was great to see the looks on their faces that they needed to learn the difference in pronounciation between "s" and "sh." I loved to do tongue twisters using this misarticulation error to show them the importance, too. "I slit my sheet. My sheet I slit. Upon my slitted sheet I sit." Anyway, they had a blast with it and used it to trick their friends in to saying bad words, too!

I'm biased. Italian. My bfs dad is from Italy and has the coolest accent ever. When he talks I cannot help but smile, it's so cool.
And Austrailian..so cool, I'm jealous.

And Austrailian..so cool, I'm jealous. LOL Maybe im just used to it, everyone seems to like the accent when im travelling though. I use too much slang though, makes communication a bit difficult, find myself laughing at myself alot. My husband just shakes his head with a small smile and tells me i have no idea how much slang i use. Love the irish accent myself, definite fav

Most european accents make me giggle, french is ace but german and polish women do make me laugh. Tony and I use to have two polish female lodgers in our old house and their accent always sounded so manly.

I love the southern US accents, and welsh, when it's a braod accent cos they don't speak english as their first language, and also the welsh accents that sound like really well spoken english. I like all northern english accents, some scottish and Manx (Isle of Man) also speak with a nice clear accent. My fave is the scouse accent, not like the Beatles though, the scouse accents seem to have evolved from there. Ouchy my dad is from Bangladesh and when he gets annoyed and starts cussing he switches between English and Arabic and Bangladeshi! xx

Southern US accents. Haha. One of my good friends has the cutest southern accent. On the other hand, I have a horrid and totally unattractive NY accent. So instead of ORange it's an AHrang. Or a dog is a dawg. Coffee is cawffee. It's not as strong as it was before but...ick.
Boston accents are fun!! "Go paaak the caaah"

My dad just sent me this joke!!! I had a bunch of Canadian dollars I needed to exchange, so I went to the currency exchange window at the local bank. Short line. Just one lady in front of me. . .an Asian lady who was trying to exchange yen for dollars and she was a little irritated . . . She asked the teller, "Why it change?? Yesterday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen. Today I get hunat eighty?? Why it change?" The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations". The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people, too!"
