Hear hear! Happy holidays to everyone, whether you are just looking forward to a quiet day off, or are having the whole church, family round and massive dinner. Just hope you have a nice week or so! I am preparing to cook my first own Christmas dinner, which will be a minted lamb leg yum yum!

I celebrate Yule, which was a couple days ago, as my religious holiday. Christmas is more of a "secular" holiday for me...but my family isn't doing anything for it until January 1st (since my dad and I are both working on Christmas day). We're going to join the crazy people Christmas shopping today, to pick up some last minute stuff for my boyfriend's family get together tonight.

Christmas is just an extension of Solstice as far as I'm concerned! Out of curiosity, irishmuse, how do you celebrate Yule? I've felt for years that I should get more serious about Pagan holidays but, while I know when they are and what they mean, I don't know much about how people celebrate them.

Well, my Grove did a ritual that was a representation of us being birthed from a "golden womb" (a Circle outlined in gold garlands) along with the Sun King (and we lit TONS of candles to welcome Him). Our rituals are always different, and we try to keep them meaningful and/or fun! Like at Samhain, we try to have a "pumpkin bashing" (a pumpkin shaped pinata filled with runes and candies), a Litha we've made God sculptures (many ended up being phallus shaped), and of course, we do a May Pole at Beltane! And lots of yummy food at Feast! My MySpace has tons of info, if you want to check it out at www.myspace.com/kraftywomyn . I'm going to try to get all the rituals I've written over the years into the blog there.

Happy Holidays.
We do the whole Christmas thing too. It's been secular in my family for the most part. I married into a very Christian family last year though. Since I started dating my now husband, we've done the church thing on Christmas Eve. I really enjoy it. It makes me put my whole year into perspective and makes me feel very thankful for all the good things in my life and gives me hope for getting over the bad things. I've never been overly religious. I believe in God, but I don't do well with a lot of chuch decrees (so to speak). This was my first Christmas dinner. I just bought my first house this summer so I had the whole family over for traditional tuirkey and all the trimings. I have tosay, It went perfectly. I think my domesticity surprised my family. My husband said the sweetest thing last night. He said that I always go the extra mile tomake things special. It made me feelvery appriciated. It's been a hard year and it was really nice to be able to have the whole family over and celebrate together. OPh, and I got spoiled rotten on the presents too.

this xmas I went camping with a new lovely guy I have been seeing.
it was 70 degrees during the day, we played on the beach, made incredible food, built a great fire, napped, watched the sunset, watched White Christmas on my computer in the tent...very very nice, got my period on christmas day, but that was fine, just a few hours of cramps, feeling good
happy new year everyone...thank you for this lovely gift of support and good info
