Ok, as a few of you have already caught wind of, I just adopted a new kitten! Her name is Indigo Raven. She is black with short hair and huge ears. She is three months old and weighs about two pounds. She is incredibly lively and her favorite habits right now are playing with basically anything, (particularly my hands and feet and her rattly mouse) and washing my face. Her least favorite thing to do is sleep. She doesn't meow much, she just kind of makes a squeaky-chirpy nopise when she wants me to play with her (right before hopping sideways with her back arched--it's so funny) but she purrs loud enough to be heard in the next town.
I actually met her on Tuesday of last week at a new cat shelter that a vet is now running in the local Animal Control building (I found out about this from a wonderful website called petfinder.com, so if any of you are looking for pets that's a grfeat resource, you cna find shelters in any area and even look at pictures though they tend not to be up-to-date). Anyway I had planned on not getting another black cat because I didn't want my new cat to remind me too much of my cat Beau who just died, but I really fell in love with this sweet black kitten. I didn't want to not get her just because she looked like Beau either. I thought it over that night--I'd been looking at a lot of kittens and didn't want to make a rash decision--but I went back the next day and turned in an application. On Thursday I brought her home! She seems to be VERY happy in her new home. I think she was a bit overwhelmed at first because she'd been in a cage all month and suddenly she has a ton of toys and room to run, but she's starting to accept that this is just the life she deserves. I have had a little trouble with her looking so much like Beau. Her first day here I cried off and on because seeing her just brought up so many memories and I was starting to wonder if i'd gotten a new cat too soon, but I'm starting to adjust and see her as being her and really enjoy having her around. I think no matter when I got a new cat that it would have broguht up memories of the end of Beau's life, not to mention when she does things that remind me of Beau it really makes me miss him even more but then again it's nice to have a cat around to do those things again! It's been transition period for both of us but i think we are both adapting well! She likes to try to help me on the computer so you may get messages from her occasionally
Anyway, here are a couple pictures. I might add more later.
