Hi I have had pain and nausea all and long periods for almost a year. In June they did a trans ultrasound and found a 2 cm cyst on left ovary. Thye told me to come back in late July. Then they did another trans ultrasound and it had grown to almost 3 cm. and they said it was a complex cyst, endometioma. They sent me to gyno, who I saw last Thursday and he said right away with all the symptoms I probably have endometriosis and maybe Adnemyosis(spell?). He said he could remove the cyst orI could wait. My husband is coming home in mid Oct. from Iraq and we have a trip to Disney World in Nov. ( I have a 12 yr old and 9 yr old) so I would't want to miss that. My question is we are trying to have another child we are only 29, so will this endometrioma cause fertility probs. My dr said he wasn't sure but since I was still having periods, my other ovary at least must be working, but then he said that the endometrioma could be absorbing the hormones from the good ovary. So what should I do? Should I go ahead and have it removed (how long would recovery be) or should I wait until late NOV.? I have another ultrasound and Dr appt. on Oct.2 but he said if I wanted it removed I should just email him. My husband will leave again 9 mo after he gets back in OCt. so will the procedure throw off my ovulation for a long time??? Any help would be so appreciated!!

Well, how does he plan to remove it? If he does it by laparoscopy, your recovery time could easily be only 3 days (2 weeks max for full recovery). If you have it done via laparotomy the recovery time is 3-6 weeks. Usually this sort of thing is done with a laparoscopy so I would say go ahead as long as you have someone who can stay with you for at least a day and help you out. You should be able to come home the same day, but you still need someone to stay with your for 24 hours and depending on how quickly you recover you may need someone to help with the kids and stuff for a few days after that.

Hi thanks for the reply, he didn't say what type of procedure. He just said he would do it when I wanted to, and if it wasn't done before I go back in Oct. then he would do another ultrasound to see if had grown. He said that the recovery would be about 2 weeks. So I guess it would be the first one you said. THanks!!! I may still wait until the next appt. I would love it to go away on its own.

If you could also tell me, my stomach has been severly bloated. Is this a symptom of the endometrioma and if so, how long after having it removed will this symptom go away? Thanks

hi..
i had my op 2 months ago and i am still in pain, (i had laparotomy. they try to do laparoscopy but my endo are quite bad so they have to open up.very bad headache and nausea too. give it 3 months for full recovery and if they put you under zoladex it's worst, you'll have depression and joint pain, hot flashes etc.

An endometrioma wouldn't cause stomach bloating as far as I know, but it's a common symptom of endometriosis. Also to my knowledge an endometrioma won't go away on its own, and I KNOW endometriosis can't. If I remember correctly, an endometrioma is a cyst filled with old blood, so it was probably caused by endometriosis. The only way to know for sure if you have endometriosis is to have surgery.

Also, I am having severe pain in my bladder area and on the right middle of my abdomen. My endometrioma is on the left ovary. All I know is a year ago and before I had no problems and then slowly over this year pain and nausea increased month by month. Now it is everyday. Crazy. It sucks to be girl sometimes.
