Hiya,
I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought the general board was best, although if anyone has any where else that suits feel free to move!
I was listening to Radio 1 today (one of the main national radio stations in the UK) and on the 6o'clock news bulletin there was a section about endo and how scientists in Belgium believe they may have found a link between the cause endo and the amount on iron in your pelvis. It went on to say that the study has been carried out on mice and that women should not stop taking iron supplements.
I am not sure exactly what they mean by this but it was just comforting to hear a national station talking about it and discussing how seriously it affects sufferers lives. Hope my boss was listening after he threatened me with a disciplinary today for sickness!
Has anyone else heard about this research?

I haven't but, I think it's great, when i got the news that I had endo, i hadn't even heard of it. Now knowing what i do i can't beleive it.
Something interesting that i learned that is a new study, and i only now this thriugh experience,
Endo if left to long can turn into cancer, I was diagnosed with a rare endo/ovarian cancer what an emotional trip that was and still is!
Thankful the first specialist when he went in the first time didn't know it was cancerous so only took out my right ovary, but then when it was sent down to Princess Margaret our Cancer hospital here in Toronto, that when they discovered it was aggressive cancer, if that speicalist new it was cancer proptocol would have been give her a histerectomy but he didn't thankfully, so then my new and more sensitive specialist at PMH went back in knowing i want to have kids and cleaned out the endo in my bowels, uterous, other ovary pretty much everywhere, he was able to keep my fertility somewhat but there was no cancer left.
Very important, never leave it, if the doctor says remove the endo , remove it!

Hi, hillary! No thanks to me--thank Meldart; she is the one who started this thread. I never would have posted this article had she not brought up the study in the first place.

Hi All, I spotted your posting here Meldart, and I had to add that the same news item regarding endometriosis was on NATIONAL TV on the BBC news yesturday. We get the BBC via satelite here in Spain if you're wondering. This was not an insignificant/short news item at the end of the news programme. We had Sofie Rayworth (newsreader) interviewing an endo sufferer, then we had a gyne being interviewed regarding this new endometriosis research. At last, endo is getting into the media, not only that, on prime time National news. If you want to read the news article on the BBC website you can find it at: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/5210998.stmI will add this article to the main website at Endo Resolved so that other women can find it. Women need as much good news as possible. All the best to you all and have a good week-end. Carolyn www.endo-resolved.com
