For quite a while now I have experinced a lot of anxiety. But after I had my little girl, between family issues and other things going on, my anxiety has sky rocketed and really been bringing me down. I don't want to be like this or feel like this any more. I really want to be able to enjoy my daughter with out all the anxiety. I have talked with my family practitioner and she feels I need to take control of it and start on a medication. But because I am nursing there is not much you can take, so she prescribed me Flouxetine. I am very worried about taking this med. with out knwing the side effects it could cause to my daughter. The Dr. said there is no med. that is designed for nursing woman but this is the one they usually perscribe for woman who are nursing. When I picked it up there is warnings all over it saying do not take while breastfeeding. I called my Dr. in concern for my daughter and she told me that there had not been enough testing done on any of these type of drugs to really know if there are side effects for nursed children. I am not sure what to do. Has anyone ever taken an anxiety/depression med. while nursing, or have any suggestions on what i should do?

Not sure about it, either. Good luck, though!

I am getting to the point where I know I need to do something but dont want to risk my daughter, I am also not willing to stop nursing because i want what is best for my daughter and enjoy the bond.
My husband thinks I should just take the meds because he feels it would not be prescribed if they honestly thought something would happen to her.
if any body knows of natural remedies that I might be able to try i am up for anything
