i was diagnosed with endo when i was 14, and i have constantly been dealing with not only the pain, but with my family and friends as well.
no one seems to understand what king of pain that im constantly in, when i say that my stomach hurts real bad, its like im joking. i hear alot of girls say that they understand what i mean when i say its a cramping feeling, however its not even close to being similiar. its constant and annoying. no one on either side of my family has this disease and neither do any of my friends, therefore it makes it really hard to discuss this situation to anyone.
im really glad ive found this site so i can talk to people who share my experience. ive had surgeries, pain pills, antidepressants, birth control, diabetic meds, and epileptic meds. its a constant field trip of pain for me and im tired of dealing with it, im seriously fed up with it already and im only 19.
any ideas for how to suck it up and move on already?
thanks!!!

Well its hard to just suck it up. Joining a support group like this one can be a big help, has really helped me.
Alot of self reflection helps to become ok with whats happening.
Finding friends that genuinely listen, and saving your rants for them.
Making time for yourself, being good to yourself.
Learn techniques to help deal with the pain, deep breathing, hot baths give a respite.

In this kinda of situation its really very difficult to "suck it up" But i can understand your frustration that no one seems to understand the things you're forced to deal with because of your endo. I have to agree w/ KB that joining a group such as this one is a tremedous help. i've found that having these girls to talk to has helped me more than anything.

No way to suck this one up dear. People can be so NOT understanding and we have all ran in to them in our time at one point or another. I hope you have a good doctor who listens to you. You always have us. This board is full of informative stuff on almost all types of subjects, we're here and we DO understand.
HUGGLEZ!!

Something that helped me a great deal when my husband and family didn't understand was to go online and print the endometriosis information for them. I even found information in spanish for the "no speako english" bunch in my family. This seemed to "prove" to them that it's a REAL condition and not something that's just in my head or that I'm just a whimp. I guess that seeing the info in writting made it REAL for them. Maybe this can help your family and friends understand too. Education is the best cure for ignorance.
Good Luck!

I deal with the same thing every day too. But for real I was diagnosed only a couple of days ago, but I've had symptoms for years, and nobody has ever been able to understand what I really feel like every single day of my life. Yeah, I'm sure other girls have painful cramps when they have their period, but seriously. They have no idea what its like to have those cramps and that pain ALLLLL the time. Its frustrating, and it drives me insane sometimes. And I know that nobody can just "suck it up" but I think thats what my family and friends expect, and that can be really hard to deal with. So I feel your pain, and I'm glad I finally found out that what I'm going through is a legitimate condition, and they're are other girls going through the same things. This is my first time on these boards, but I think they'll end up being helpful.
