I'm booked for an MRI on the 22nd. I brave the pain twice a month and have sex with hubby in an attempt at pregnancy. My ovulation dates start soon. Should I skip this months attempt because of the MRI?

That is a good thing to call your dr.'s office to ask! I'm guessing it would be okay, as I MRI works w/ magnets, but you should definitely ask! Let us know what you hear!

MRI= magnetic resonance imaging (or something like that). It takes very detailed images and is capable of taking "slice" images of the brain, etc. It's a very useful tool! I had one on my brain once, and it's really, really cool to look at, especially if you know exactly what you're looking at. There are so many landmarks.

I had a lap in November and all she found was a whole lot of swelling and inflamation. She gave me antibiotics. She wants to see what shows up on a MRI before we decide waht to do next. SHe knows that my left overy is "stuck" but becuase of the inflamation she couldn't get to it during my lap. I guess she is hoping an MRI will give her some clue as to whats going on instead of surgery again. To make a long story short, I'm not too clear actually.

Okay, the update. I spoke to the DR about my question and here is what she said. MRI is like an ultrsound but stronger and more clear. you can learn a lot more from it. It's not as good as a lap but it shoud be able to pinpoint any "areas" based on what she saw during my surgery. It might not though. She just thought that it would in my case. Yes, it is considered relatley safe for a pregnant woman. Not that I am,but since I did have unprotected sex this month, you never know right. We arent "trying" but we arn't preventing either. Anyway, they are sometimes used later in pregnancy is an abnoramility is supected. Usually, they wait until the third trimester to do it thought, just to be on the safe side. But no research indicated that they are unsafe at any stage.
