Hello, I was about 27 when I had mine. I thought and was told it was my only option, because of my endo. It has not gone away since my hysterectomy. I am still having surgeries and still dealing with the pain. I wouldn't advise anyone to have one. I just had an ultrasound last week, and its all over the place once again. In big cyst forms now. Remember endo is fueled by estrogen, which is what you will have to take after your surgery to replace the estrogen that your ovaries usually create naturally for you. So its a vicious cycle. Please think carefully about this and get more advice. It may not be your best choice. R

I second that. I would definitely not jump to such a drastic move especially because they have found endo in babies through old women. A hysterectomy isn't always a solution. I have moderate endo, fortunately without major pain. I did have horrible pain after my lap surgery (I would rate it about an 8 on a 10 point scale) but that was actually from scar tissue and not endo. I went to Clear Passages which is a physical therapy for pain, fertility issues, etc. My pain is almost completely gone. I have pain only the second day of my period for about 2 hours. It is uncomfortable but it is not so bad where I have to take medicine. Anyway, I would try options like Clear Passages, acupuncture, herbs and of course changing your diet before I would get a hysterectomy. I mean you can always get a hysterectomy if these things don't work, but you cannot put back what is already gone.

I had my hyst when I was 31. I'm now 35 years and still dealing with endo. I thought it was gone and wouldn't have to deal with it again; I was wrong. I'm going to have surgery again in June to remove a mass on my ad wall which is a build up of endo.
