I am going through with my hysterectomy on 4/15/08. I am really nervous. I have a soft ball cyst on right ovary and my endo is so bad. I am 99.9% sure on not wanting to have any more children. Just nervous though on the recovery. I am also getting the bladder "hammock". So, anyone wanna give some advice ? thank-you

Hello, I have had endo since I was in my teens. I also chose to have a partial hystorectomy when I was about 27. I wouldn't do it again, because it didn't "cure" my endo. In fact endo lives on estrogen, which is what they will give you after your surgery to control your menopause. So if you think having this surgery will cure your endo. think again.....it won't. I have had two surgeries since my hyst. and am going in again in 3 to 6 months. Unfortunately there is no cure for endo. and having a hyst. isin't a cure either. In fact I am still on pain meds daily, and like I said still having surgeries. Please think about this alot, and maybe rethink your decision. Its easier on your body when you have all your parts intact, and its not going to get rid of your endo.

Hello Ladies- I've had two Lap's and have Stage III Endo. The first I was out for a 10 days the second I seemed to bounce back quicker. I'm having Deep Excision LAPEX on April 30th at the CEC in Atlanta GA. The doctors their believe they can successfully remove all the endo by "cutting" it out. My first two surgeries only burned off the top layers of the Endo always leaving behind the root (which it grows back from). The goal is leave my organs intact. I see alot of woman here go the Hysterectomy route. And it seems like such a shame because removing essential organs won't cure Endo. The Endo is more then likey growing on your Pelvic sidewall and removing any of your organs will not change that, the Endo will still be there. Please have look at the page for the CEC, you may find if usefull. I wish you all the best. centerforendo.com/

Hi Mbaile01, I'm new and very interested to know if you went ahead with the hysterectomy. I have a tentative schedule for one on 5/29. I'm going for the total and know there is a chance it will not help me to be better and intend on doing lots more research. I've been told that the ovaries are what feed the endo but guess that it totally depends on the patient and how progressive your endo is. I'm terrified of the actual surgery. I really hope that everything went well for you and would love to hear from you-or anyone that is going through this.
